Aims:
- teaching pathological anatomy in the system of higher medical education with the study of the structural foundations of diseases, their etiology, pathogenesis and morphogenesis for a more in-depth study of the clinic, differential diagnosis and the use of the knowledge gained in the practical work of a general practitioner.
- dissemination and application of knowledge in the field of pathological anatomy in the process of training pathologists, residents and in the training of scientific personnel.
History of creation:
The Chair of pathological anatomy of NJSC "Astana Medical University" was organized in August 1965 in the structure of the Tselinograd State Medical Institute.
From the day of its foundation, the staff of the Chair of pathological anatomy under the guidance of candidate of medical sciences, associate professor Shapiro Boris Moiseevich dealt with the problem of organizing the activities of pathologists in the city of Tselinograd and the Tselinograd region by forming a centralized united prosecture on the basis of the Chair. In parallel, together with clinical Chairs and representatives of practical healthcare, scientific research was carried out.
Over the years, the Chair of pathological anatomy was headed by: candidate of medical sciences, associate professor Shapiro Boris Moiseevich; candidate of medical sciences, associate professor Brown Alexander Varfalomeevich; doctor of medical sciences, professor Kornitsky Mikhail Assirovich; candidate of medical sciences, associate professor Ramazanov Alibek Mendybaevich; doctor of medical sciences, professor Kadyrova Saule Nurgalievna. Since 2005, the Chair has been headed by doctor of medical sciences, professor Manekenova Kenzhekyz Boranbaevna.

Employees of the Chair, along with diagnostic work, carry out expert activities, taking part in monitoring the causes of maternal and infant mortality, in commission examinations of lethal cases.
The Chair is equipped with computer classes for students to work with video material and with 3D training programs:
Multimedia learning technologies have been introduced into the educational process using our own developments in the form of educational videos on all topics of general and particular pathological anatomy; methodology "Interactive board" on certain topics of the course of pathological anatomy, a video algorithm for describing macroscopic and microscopic signs of pathology of internal organs.
- The Chair provides extensive diagnostic and advisory assistance to practical pathologists in the city of Astana and the regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republican Center for forensic medical examination.
- A number of standards and regulatory legal acts have been developed for organizing the activities of the pathoanatomical service of the Republic of Kazakhstan
- Assistant Shaikenova M.S., made a presentation and took part in a seminar organized by the Open Medical Institute (OMI) in cooperation with the Cleveland Clinic and the Medical University of Vienna, specializing in Pathology in Salzburg (Austria) ), on the basis of the Cleveland Clinic (11/20/22 - 11/26/22).
- Over the past 5 years, 4 dissertations have been defended for the academic degree of a master in the specialty 6M110100 - Medicine, 1 dissertation for the PhD degree in the specialty 6M110100 - Medicine (together with the Chair of Pediatric Surgery).
- Scientific articles are published annually in with an impact factor above 1.0.
- The work of the pathohistological laboratory of the Chair peer-reviewed international journals was organized, where pathohistological processing of clinical, scientific, clinical, and experimental material is carried out, followed by microscopy, morphometry and archiving of scientific material.

Head of the Chair: Manekenova K.B. – letters of appreciation from the Association of Independent Experts of Astana; Guidelines of the Public Health Chair of Nur-Sultan; branch of the Institute of Forensic Examinations in Astana, Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
Professor of the Chair Ospanova K.Y. - the title of the best expert in 2022 of the Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
Associate professors of the Chair Dukenbaeva B.A. and Smailova G.K.- the certificates of merit of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
Chair Assistant Nurgaliyeva A.E. – was awarded the medal "Best Young Scientist" and awarded a 2nd degree diploma as a participant in the project The V International book Edition of the Commonwealth of the Independent States "The Best Young Scientist-2022" - form of the association National Movement "Bobek";
Several employees of the Chair were awarded diplomas and letters of appreciation from the party "Amanat" and the trade union organization the NpJSC "Astana Medical University"
