At the Research Institute of Radiobiology and Radiation Protection of NpJSC “Astana Medical University”, from April 15th to 19th, 2024, as part of the program of an invited foreign visiting professor, the Chief Scientific Consultant of the Federal State Budgetary Institution National Medical Research Center of Oncology named after N.N. Blokhin of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Adolf Adolfovich Vainson, conducted a master class on the topic "Current Issues in Radiobiology and Radiation Safety". The event was attended by scientific researchers, professors, doctoral students, and master's students of the NpJSC “Astana Medical University”, as well as representatives from the «Orhun Medical» Center and the University Medical Center on a paid basis.

It is worth noting that the invited professor, Adolf Adolfovich Vainson, has rich practical experience in the field of radiobiology. He is one of the authors of the classic textbook "Radiobiology of Humans and Animals" and is also a member of the editorial board of the scientific journal "Medical Radiology and Radiation Safety".

During the master class, attendees were acquainted with the history of the development of radiobiological concepts, possible radiation doses for humans, experimental studies on the carcinogenic effects of radiation, basic radiation safety standards, as well as recommendations from the IAEA, UNSCEAR, and WHO. In particular, issues of the early and delayed effects of ionizing radiation in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, after the Chernobyl accident, and the challenges of assessing the effects of "low" doses of ionizing radiation in various cohorts were discussed.

The master class took place in a lively and relaxed atmosphere with maximum practical benefit for the participants, fostering lively exchanges of opinions.
