In the period from April 11 to April 18, 2024, teaching staff of the Department of Microbiology and Virology named after Sh.I. Sarbasova NJSC "Astana Medical University" - Master of Medical Sciences, senior teacher Botbaeva M.T., 1 year doctoral student, senior teacher Sutimbekova N.S. and teacher Yktiyarov A.A. conducted a number of career guidance activities for schoolchildren in Astana.

At the school-lyceum №84 named after Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan organized an event on the topic “Medical science and human life”, where those responsible for career guidance work – research staff of the department were invited in honor of Science Day. The event introduced students to various aspects of working in medicine and biology, as well as opportunities for future research projects and careers in the field. Schoolchildren had the opportunity to ask questions to specialists and learn more about the specifics of the profession of a doctor and researcher in the field of medicine and biology.

At school-gymnasium №4 named after Zhambyl Zhabaev and at secondary school №20 named after Shaken Aimanov had a conversation with schoolchildren, where teachers of the department spoke about specialization in the field of general medicine, pediatrics, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, about the possibilities of studying in this area at the university, as well as about the prospects for work in this field. Schoolchildren were familiarized with the main directions and requirements for future specialists, as well as possible career paths and professional growth.

As a result of the events, schoolchildren received information about the medical profession, their interest in this field of science was awakened, and opportunities for training and development in this area were presented. The work of the department’s teachers was assessed positively by both students and school teachers, and allowed schoolchildren to more consciously choose their future education and career.
