From December 2 to 13, a group of medical residents from our university completed an internship at the Abu Ali ibn Sina Bukhara State Medical Institute. The participants represented various medical specialties, including anesthesiology and resuscitation, pediatric surgery, general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, as well as ophthalmology.
The primary goal of the internship was to enhance professional competencies and exchange experiences with colleagues from one of Uzbekistan’s leading medical institutions. The practical component of the program took place at several clinical bases, including a perinatal center, a children’s hospital, an emergency medical care hospital, and the university clinic of the medical institute.
During the internship, the medical residents not only observed the work of experienced specialists but also actively participated in diagnostic and treatment processes, gaining experience in applying modern medical technologies and treatment methods. These skills will enable the participants to refine their expertise and improve the quality of healthcare services in their regions.
The internship program also included a cultural component. Department heads and assistants from the institute organized a tour of the ancient city of Bukhara. The residents visited architectural landmarks, immersed themselves in the historical heritage, and explored the rich culture of the region. Bukhara, with its unique mosques, madrasas, and bustling bazaars, left an unforgettable impression on all participants.
“This internship not only provided us with valuable professional experience but also allowed us to better understand the culture and history of Uzbekistan. We are grateful to our colleagues for their warm hospitality and the opportunity to see Bukhara, its landmarks, and to feel the spirit of this amazing city,” noted one of the participants.
The residents stayed in the institute’s dormitories, which allowed them to experience local university life more closely.
The internship at the Abu Ali ibn Sina Bukhara State Medical Institute became an important step in the development of professional and intercultural connections and strengthened the international cooperation of our university with foreign educational and medical institutions.
