The Days of Kazakh Medicine in the Republic of Tajikistan were held in Dushanbe from 25 to 27 August 2026. The international professional event brought together leading healthcare specialists from Kazakhstan and Tajikistan to exchange clinical expertise, showcase advanced medical technologies, and strengthen practical cooperation in healthcare.
As part of the programme, Kazakh specialists performed a series of demonstration surgeries, presenting their Tajik colleagues with modern approaches to diagnosis and surgical treatment across various medical specialties.
Astana Medical University was represented by leading specialists who took an active part in the practical programme, demonstrating advanced clinical approaches directly within medical institutions in Dushanbe.
Demonstration Surgeries: Advancing Clinical Practice Through Professional Exchange
One of the key components of the programme was a series of demonstration surgeries, providing specialists from both countries with an opportunity to exchange hands-on clinical experience and discuss the practical application of advanced medical technologies.
Ayan Abrahmanov, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, and Director of the Research Institute of Cardiac Rhythm, presented modern approaches in interventional electrophysiology and performed a demonstration surgery on “Modern Approaches to Catheter Ablation of Complex Cardiac Arrhythmias.”
The procedure demonstrated contemporary approaches to the catheter-based treatment of complex cardiac arrhythmias, as well as advanced techniques used in high-technology cardiovascular interventions.
Oral Ospanov, Professor and Chief Researcher at the Professor V. Tsoy Scientific and Educational Centre of Surgery, performed a demonstration surgery on “Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass Using the Fundoring Technique.”
The practical demonstration provided Tajik specialists with an opportunity to explore a modern minimally invasive approach in bariatric surgery and discuss the specific aspects of applying the technique in clinical practice.
Talapbek Azhenov, Doctor of Medical Sciences and Head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at Astana Medical University, presented modern surgical approaches in otorhinolaryngology. The programme included procedures in functional endoscopic rhinosurgery, tympanoplasty, and laryngeal microsurgery.
The participation of Astana Medical University specialists became an important component of the practical programme of the Days of Kazakh Medicine. The demonstration surgeries created an opportunity for direct professional dialogue, the exchange of clinical expertise, and discussion of contemporary treatment approaches with colleagues from Tajikistan.
