Objectives
The main goal of the Chair of Forensic Medicine lies in methodological research activities by the clinical experts in the field of health and education. The Chair provides training for bachelors, residents, postgraduates students in the disciplines of the curriculum (forensic medicine, forensic medical examination) for students of NJSC AMU.
History of creation
The Chair of Forensic Medicine of the Tselinograd State Medical Institute was founded in the fall of 1967. For a short period of time, it was led by Shershavkin Sergey Vladimirovich, who is considered to be one of the most progressive representatives in the field of forensic medicine, a prominent researcher, doctor of medical sciences, professor and historiographer of forensic medicine. In following years, the department was led by: candidate of medical sciences, associate professor Zaitseva E.I. (1969 - 1980), Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Isaev Yu.S. (1980 - 1986), Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Zhakenov A.S. (1986 - 1996), Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Galitsky F.A. (1996 - 2010).
Activities
The activity of the Chair is aimed at the implementation of educational programs of the State Educational Establishment for Higher Professional and Postgraduate Education for the training of forensic doctors. The teaching staff of the Chair forms and enhances the skills of students using innovative teaching technologies. The teachers of the Chair combine pedagogical actions with expert activities at the Institute of Forensic Examinations in the city of Nur-Sultan, in the Center of Forensic Examinations of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, trying to actively involve students in the process. They collaborate with practical healthcare, providing advice to law enforcement officers on forensic medical issues.
Achievements
Ever since the Chair was founded, the staff has published more than 500 scientific articles, including those with an impact factor, and has published 3 monographs, received more than 20 copyright certificates, patents and pre-patents for inventions, published collections of scientific works of forensic doctors of Kazakhstan and other CIS countries. More than 80% of the staff of the Chair has degrees of: doctor of medical sciences, professor, two candidate of medical sciences, associate Professor and two PhDs. Every year the Chair graduate’s forensic doctors who are able to successfully integrate into the country's forensic medical service. The partners of our Chair are: Chair of Pathological Anatomy and Forensic Medicine of Y.V. Pruglo Semey Medical University and Chair of Forensic Medicine Cukurova University School of Medicine, Adana, Turkey.
