      Head of the сhair, doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, ended in 1988 at the Semipalatinsk State Medical Institute, faculty with distinction. From 1988 to 1990, he was trained in a clinical residency at the сhair of infectious diseases at the Semipalatinsk State Medical Institute, after completing which he was accepted as an assistant, and in 1997 he was awarded the position of associate professor at the сhair of infectious diseases. From 2006 to 2009, she studied at the doctoral program at the Department of infectious diseases of the State Medical University. Semey defended its doctoral dissertation in November 2009. In 2010, he was appointed a doctor of Medical Sciences. From 2009 to 2012-associate professor of the Сhair of Disaster Medicine and Infectious Diseases of Semey State Medical University. From 2012 to 2013-associate professor of the Department of infectious diseases and epidemiology of JSC "Medical University Astana", in 2014 was awarded a competition for the position of the leading Сhair of infectious diseases and Clinical Epidemiology. In 2021, the academic name of the professor was assigned. Infectious diseases doctor of the highest category for a permanent period.

Chairman of the Association of infectious diseases doctors G. Аstana, member of RSO "Society of infectious diseases doctors", member of the European Society of clinical microbiologists and Infectious Diseases, member of the Euro-Asian Society of infectious diseases, expert accreditation center of the Republic of Kazakhstan IAAR, member of the Working Group on development normative legal documents on Infectious Diseases in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Author of more than 150 publications, 7 of which are published in international peer-reviewed scientific journals, textbooks "reference books on infectious diseases" in Russian and Kazakh languages, monographs, 6 textbooks, 2 methodological recommendations for students and doctors of infectious diseases, approved Mons of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 2 preferences of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the design of one of the objects of author's rights.

He was awarded the badge "excellent healthcare worker", the medal" Halyk algysy"," Kurmetti tulek", honorary certificates, charitable works.

History of creation

The Chair of Infectious Diseases was organized in 1967. The first head of the department until 1974 was Ph.D., Associate Professor V.P.Osipov. From 1974 to 1983, the department was headed by Associate Professor I.N.Gnutov, in 1983, the Academic Council of TSMI entrusted the leadership of the department to Ph.D. Kotlyarov I.F. Since 1988, for 10 years, the team was led by Associate Professor E.N.Kolos. From November 1999 to January 2013, the chair was headed by MD, Professor Gulnara Ukmanovna Alshinbayeva, from January 2013 to February 2014, Associate Professor Imambayeva Gulsara Gazizovna; From February 2014 to the present, the chair is headed by MD, Professor Kulzhanova Sholpan Adlgazyevna. The chair of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Epidemiology of the NAO "Astana Medical University" is located on the basis of the State Enterprise on the PCB "Multidisciplinary Medical Center" of the Akimat of Nur-Sultan (Street 1.5, FCC. Blok Г,В) and in the educational building of the NAO "MUA" at Saryarka 33.

Activity

 Educational and pedagogical activity: at the chair of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Epidemiology, the educational process is carried out in the discipline "Infectious diseases" for students of the 2nd and 4th courses of the Faculty of Nursing, 3rd courses of the Faculty of Dentistry, 4th courses of the Faculty of Medicine, interns of the 6th course of the specialty GP, in the discipline "Fundamentals of clinical Epidemiology" for students of the 3rd and 4th courses of the Faculty of Medicine, in the specialties of residency: "Infectious diseases, including children's", "Family Medicine", "Dermatology, including children's". Interactive and innovative teaching methods have been introduced and actively used in the educational process: PBL, CBL, TBL, interactive teaching methods, simulation technology method, video lectures, OCE, videos, mini-clinical exam, standardized patients, vertical and horizontal integration, integrated symposium.

Research activity: The main directions of the research work of the chair of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Epidemiology of the NAO "MUA" are the study of epidemiology, clinic, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases in adults at the present stage. More than 300 scientific papers have been published, 9 publications in journals indexed in the Scopus and Web of Science databases, a monograph, 10 textbooks, 2 innovative patents have been obtained, 1 certificate of entering information into the state register of rights to objects protected by copyright.

Scientific projects: "Randomized study of the efficacy and safety of the drug Sausaline in comparison with biltricide in the treatment of patients with opisthorchiasis", "Methodology and software for determining the characteristic acoustic cough pattern for COVID-19 patients", SOLIDARITY International randomized clinical trial of drugs for the treatment of COVID-19 in hospitalized patients, WHO Project "Protocol for the study of confirmed and probable SARS-CoV-2 cases and contacts in the Republic of Kazakhstan". In 2021, the staff of the Department conducted the first clinical studies in the Republic of Kazakhstan to study the clinical efficacy of antiviral drugs Remdesivir and Favipiravir for COVID-19 coronavirus infection, based on the results of which the drug Remdesivir was included in the Clinical Protocol for the diagnosis and Treatment of COVID-19 coronavirus infection in adults.

Clinical activity: The staff of the department provides extensive medical and advisory assistance to practical healthcare both in Nur-Sultan and in all regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In order to provide methodological and practical assistance, as well as to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the current situation on infectious pathology, field visits to the regions are carried out as part of working groups, through sanitation to provide intensive care to critical patients, consultations on telemedicine for the management, intensive care of infectious patients, including pregnant women, in all regions of the country. The staff of the department are members of working groups on the development of the main regulatory documents of the Infectious Diseases Service ("Standard of organization of medical care for infectious diseases in the Republic of Kazakhstan", 2019, "Professional Standard in the specialty "Infectious diseases, including children", 2021, etc.), developers and reviewers of clinical protocols for the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases, etc.), members of the expert group on the registration of vaccines against COVID19 in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In parallel, a lot of educational work is being carried out among medical workers on the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases, infection control (cycles of advanced training of doctors, seminars on case detection standards, the clinical protocol for the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19, which is updated as new international data become available), information and explanatory work among the population of our country on the prevention of infectious diseases in the media (speeches on republican television, publications in newspapers of the city and republican level).

Educational work at the department is constantly carried out during practical classes, in the dormitory, in supervised groups of the Faculty of General Medicine. The main topics of the events are: "Healthy lifestyle without drugs", "Healthy lifestyle, prevention of viral hepatitis B and C", "Prevention of HIV infection", "Healthy lifestyle without smoking". Great attention is paid to the patriotic education of young people, solemn events are held annually: "Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan" and "Victory Day", "President's Day", etc.

Achievements

 Highly qualified staff of the department: professors, associate professors, assistants with extensive experience in teaching, scientific and clinical activities.

In 2021, the Committee for Quality Assurance in Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan awarded the academic title of "Professor" to the head of the Department Kulzhanova Sh.A., the academic title of "Associate Professor" to associate professors Konkaeva M.E., Smagulova Z.K.

In 2017-2021, 9 articles were published in journals indexed in the Scopus and Web of Science databases.

For their huge contribution to the fight against the COVID-19 coronavirus infection, the staff of the department were awarded government awards, diplomas and letters of thanks.
