To make the student feel like a doctor without leaving the classroom, immerse himself in the diagnosis and prescription of treatment in a simulated situation, formulate the doctor's position in case of non–standard questions from the patient - these and other methods of professional training by using the case method that highlighted at a seminar for more than a hundred teachers of Astana Medical University "Innovative technology of CBL in medical education".

The lecturer was Associate professor, PhD of the Department of Oncology of the University Aizhan Tanibergenovna Bekisheva.

First of all, the lecturer explained that, despite the complicated name - CBL, Case-Based Learning - in fact, this educational technology is quite simple, widespread and effective.

Within the framework of CBL, students analyze clinical cases, discuss them with teachers and other students, work out solutions to clinical problems in theory in order to prepare themselves for actions in similar situations in practice. The method is widely used in medical education to teach students clinical thinking and application of knowledge in real situations. Technology promotes the development of critical thinking skills, analytical abilities, decision-making, communication and collaboration, which is important for successful work in the medical field that helps to learn more deeply and memorably.

During the seminar, the teachers mastered the basic techniques and methods of CBL, the skills of conducting classes on this technology by using the example of real cases.

The seminar was held from February to March under the auspices of the Educational Technology Transfer Center. The event left the most positive impressions among the participants, who noted that new knowledge and skills will help them improving pedagogical work and the educational process, strengthening the practical component of students training.
