From June 18 to June 24, 2024, the VI annual Summer School of Surgery was held, lasting 30 hours, organized by the Department of Surgical Diseases, Bariatric Surgery and Neurosurgery together with the Department of Public Health and Epidemiology. The head of the program was Irina Sergeevna Volchkova, MD, professor, founder of the student surgical club “Veritas”, and the course coordinators were teachers of the responsible departments together with team captains and members of the surgical club. This year the summer school in surgery was attended by 21 students, more than half of whom were schoolchildren and graduates of international schools, 1 student from KazNMU named after. Asfendiyarova, 2 foreign students.

         The training program included the study of theoretical aspects and practical skills using animal cadaver materials. According to established tradition, several areas of surgical profile were presented:

 Plastic surgery – Skin sutures

 Abdominal surgery – Intestinal sutures

 Neurosurgery – Craniotomy, drilling

 Operative gynecology – delivery

 Traumatology – application of a plaster splint

          Every year, interest in mastering practical skills, as well as new innovative technologies, is growing, and therefore the level of selection of competitive students from medical universities in Kazakhstan is increasing. They show a growing interest in surgery and demonstrate a high level of theoretical training and a fairly high level of practical skills.
