The summer school "Surgical Skills" at the Department of Surgical Diseases with courses in angel surgery and plastic surgery was held on the basis of the Multidisciplinary city hospital No. 1 in Astana.

The purpose of the summer school is to expand and deepen the knowledge of students of all levels in the general cultural, natural science and professional fields. The training included, in parallel with basic surgical skills, performing procedures in compliance with the principles of asepsis and antiseptics, as well as demonstrating skills of effective interaction with colleagues. In addition to deep theoretical knowledge in the field of surgery, students should have knowledge of surgical anatomy and ethical aspects of surgical practice.

Classes were held in the period from June 17, 2024 to June 21, 2024, according to the approved schedule and the compiled calendar and thematic plan at the clinical base of the department. The enrollment of students in the summer school was carried out on the basis of student applications. The group included 7 students, all of them are 4th year students of the Schools of medicine and pediatrics.

Theoretical and practical classes were held. Theoretical classes were conducted by: the head of the department, associate Professor Omarbekov A.Zh., associate professor Turebaev D.K., assistants of the department Mamesheva L.K., Yesenbaev D.B., Islyamov D.U. Practical classes included skills processing in the simulation room of the department, as well as presence and assistance on operations in the operating unit.

The end result of the summer school "Surgical skills" was:

1. The primary surgical treatment of the wound.

2. In-depth study of examination methods for surgical patients.

3. Methods of opening acute purulent mastitis.

4. Laparocentesis.

5. Thoracocentesis.

6. Mastering the basics of traditional appendectomy techniques.

7. Mastering the basics of laparoscopic appendectomy technique.

8. The technique of sclerotherapy in patients with chronic hemorrhoids.

9. Technique of ligation of hemorrhoids.

After completing the training, the students mastered the most common surgical operations on phantoms, mannequins and artificial skin.
