A delegation from Daegu Health University, led by Professor Gyeong-don Kim, paid an official visit to Astana Medical University. The meeting was held in an atmosphere of productive dialogue aimed at strengthening cooperation between the institutions.
Acting Chair of the Board – Rector Anar Turmukhambetova emphasized:
"Potential areas of collaboration between Astana Medical University and Daegu Health University include the implementation of academic mobility programs for students and faculty, the involvement of leading scientists and experts as visiting professors, and the conduction of joint research in the fields of rehabilitation, occupational therapy, and kinesitherapy."
A key focus of the visit was the work of the Department of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine. The Head of the Department, Natalia Slivkina, presented the main areas of specialist training, including residency programs in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and bachelor's programs in Kinesitherapy and Occupational Therapy. She also outlined retraining and professional development programs for physicians in sports medicine, medical rehabilitation, kinesitherapy, and occupational therapy.
The Daegu Health University delegation showed particular interest in the department’s joint projects with the Ministry of Labor of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which focus on developing standards for working with people with disabilities and enhancing rehabilitation centers. Discussions on educational methodologies, academic programs, and prospects for inter-university collaboration sparked a lively exchange of ideas.
The guests highly appreciated the work of the Department of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine at Astana Medical University, noting its high level of specialist training, the implementation of modern approaches in medical rehabilitation, and active participation in national projects.
The visit concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between Astana Medical University and Daegu Health University. This agreement will open new opportunities for experience exchange, the implementation of joint educational and research projects, and the enhancement of specialist training in medical rehabilitation, sports medicine, occupational therapy, and kinesitherapy.
