Head of the Department of Microbiology and Virology named after Sh.I. Sarbasova, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Marat Uteuovich Dusmagambetov participated in the III Russian Congress on Medical Microbiology and Infectology with international participation, which took place in Moscow.

The congress brought together more than 1,500 practicing physicians and scientific specialists, epidemiologists, and laboratory diagnostics experts fr om Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Germany, Belgium, India, Iraq, Portugal, China, and Serbia. Participants discussed current issues of infection control, antimicrobial resistance, and modern approaches to diagnosing and treating infectious diseases.

The event featured scientific symposia, master classes, and round tables, wh ere more than 200 reports were presented on the latest research in microbiology and infectology.

Professor M.U. Dusmagambetov delivered a report titled "Dynamics of the Prevalence of Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis in Astana in Recent Years." In his presentation, he covered:

• trends in the increase of drug-resistant tuberculosis in the region,
• the impact of various factors on the formation of resistant strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis,
• results of molecular-genetic analysis of the pathogen, and other aspects.

The report generated significant interest among congress participants, particularly in the context of the global challenge of tuberculosis pathogen resistance to anti-tuberculosis drugs. During the discussion, international experts emphasized the importance of comprehensive monitoring of drug-resistant strain distribution and the necessity of an interdisciplinary approach in combating this disease.

In addition to the intensive scientific program, the organizers prepared a cultural program for international participants, including a tour of the State Tretyakov Gallery. Congress guests had the opportunity to view outstanding works of Russian painting, learn about the history of the famous collection, and admire masterpieces by Aivazovsky, Repin, Surikov, Vrubel, and other renowned artists.

The event facilitated the establishment of new professional connections, opening prospects for further collaboration in scientific research and educational programs.

The participation of leading scientists from Astana Medical University in such international forums highlights the high level of scientific research at the university and contributes to strengthening its position on the international stage.
