Astana Became a Platform for International Dialogue in ENT Surgery

On May 21–22, Medical University Astana hosted the Session of the Eurasian Assembly of Otorhinolaryngologists and the International Scientific and Practical Conference “New Aspects in Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery,” bringing together leading ENT specialists, scientists, and surgeons from eight countries.

The large-scale forum was dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Academician Rais Tulebayev — an outstanding scientist, Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, founder of the national scientific school of otorhinolaryngology, and Honorary Head of the university’s Department of Otorhinolaryngology. His name has long become a symbol of the development of Kazakh ENT science and international professional cooperation.

Over two days, participants discussed modern technologies for the diagnosis and treatment of ear, nose, and throat diseases, the development of minimally invasive surgery, cochlear implantation, ENT oncology, and interdisciplinary approaches in head and neck surgery. The scientific program included dozens of presentations, poster sessions, and international master classes involving globally recognized experts.

Particular attention was drawn to the master classes conducted by Professor Kazimierz Niemczyk of the University of Warsaw, President of the European Skull Base Society. High-tech ear microsurgery procedures performed at Astana clinics became a vivid example of advanced international experience exchange.

Following the conference, participants highlighted the high level of development of Kazakhstan’s otorhinolaryngology and its compliance with modern global trends. The adopted resolution outlined key priorities for the further development of the field, including the introduction of innovative technologies, expansion of scientific research, support for young specialists, and strengthening of international partnership.

Participants of the forum expressed their gratitude to the leadership of Medical University Astana, the organizing committee, and the Department of Otorhinolaryngology for the high-level organization of the large-scale international event.
