From 28 June to 11 July 2026, 11 students of Astana Medical University participated in the International Summer School hosted by China Medical University in Shenyang, China. Over the course of two weeks, participants explored the latest advances in digital medicine, examined the applications of artificial intelligence in healthcare, engaged with innovative educational technologies, and exchanged knowledge and experience with students and faculty members from different countries.
The summer school offered two specialized academic tracks tailored to the participants' fields of study. Students of the School of Public Health and Management completed the AI Empowering Healthcare course, which focused on the application of artificial intelligence technologies in healthcare. Students of the School of Medicine completed the Digital Education for Neurosurgery course, designed to introduce modern digital solutions for neurosurgical education and training. Throughout the program, the group was accompanied by Nurzhan Dyusenbayev, Associate Professor at the Professor G. V. Tsoy Research and Educational Center of Surgery.
The academic program combined lectures delivered by leading professors and experts from China Medical University, practical sessions, workshops, and hands-on activities in the university's advanced teaching hospitals, research laboratories, and simulation centers. Participants gained first-hand insight into clinical practice, innovative diagnostic and treatment technologies, and contemporary approaches to medical education and healthcare workforce training.
In addition to the academic curriculum, participants took part in a rich cultural program. They explored China's history and traditions, attended workshops on the traditional Chinese martial art Tai Chi (Taijiquan), visited historical and cultural landmarks in Shenyang, and expanded their international academic and professional networks through interactions with peers from around the world.
Upon successful completion of the program, all participants were awarded international certificates recognizing their successful completion of the educational courses.
