How should healthcare professionals respond in the first minutes of a newborn’s life, recognize critical conditions and apply modern approaches to diagnosis? These and other important issues were addressed during an educational programme at Astana Medical University featuring professors from Bukhara.
From 10 to 17 September, Astana Medical University hosted professors Shakar Istamovna Navruzova and Shakhnoza Tolibovna Mukhamedova from Bukhara State Medical Institute of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The visit was held as part of the international academic mobility programme and brought together more than 60 participants, including faculty members, senior-year students, interns, residents, master’s students and general practitioners.
Throughout the week, the visiting professors delivered lectures, seminars and practical master classes covering current issues in pediatrics and neonatology. Key topics included neonatal pathology and borderline conditions, birth-related injuries of the central nervous system, respiratory infections, nutrition in early childhood, allergic diseases and non-rheumatic carditis.
Particular attention was given to neonatal care. Professor Navruzova Sh.I. conducted a master class entitled “Asphyxia and Initial Neonatal Resuscitation”, focusing on emergency response algorithms. She also presented a report, “Respiratory Mycoplasmosis and Atopy: New Perspectives in Diagnosis”, at the XXI International Scientific and Practical Conference “Pediatrics Today: Revisiting Standards and New Opportunities”, held to mark the 25th anniversary of the Department of Childhood Diseases No. 3 at Astana Medical University.
The educational programme brought together professionals at different stages of their careers. Students and residents had an opportunity to communicate directly with international experts, while faculty members and practicing physicians discussed clinical approaches and current research issues.
The visit of professors from Bukhara State Medical Institute was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen international academic mobility and professional cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. It also created new opportunities for educational and research collaboration in pediatrics and neonatology.
