Finnish Experience for the New Generation of Nurses: Astana Medical University Discusses the Development of Nursing Education
The main theme of the visit was the development of nursing at all levels of education. At AMU, Eveliina Lagström met with faculty members of the Department of Nursing and representatives of the School of Nursing.
At the center of discussions were issues directly related to the future of the profession: how requirements for modern nursing specialists are changing, which competencies are becoming key, and how international experience can be adapted to the educational process in Kazakhstan.
Special attention was paid to curricula, modern approaches to personnel training, and current challenges in nursing care. The Finnish experience in this field became a subject of professional dialogue rather than just a presentation: participants discussed potential points of its integration into AMU's educational practice.
An important part of the program was the presentation of dissertation research projects by AMU master's and doctoral students in the field of nursing. The foreign guest was introduced to relevant scientific projects dedicated to the development of nursing practice and education.
These three days provided a broader perspective on the development of nursing education, allowing participants to discuss international approaches, exchange professional experience, and determine areas wh ere cooperation between the two universities could grow into joint educational and scientific projects.
