More than 150 scientists, psychologists, psychotherapists and physicians from Kazakhstan, Russia and other CIS countries came together to discuss how to combine scientific knowledge with practical experience, advance psychological care and respond to emerging challenges in the profession.
On September 19–20, Astana became a platform for professional dialogue on the future of psychology. Participants of the 38th International Congress “Modern Trends in the Integration of Psychology” discussed new approaches to working with clients, cooperation between psychology and medicine, and the role of artificial intelligence in psychological practice.
The congress was jointly organized by the University of Integrative Psychology and Psychotherapy (UIPP), the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology and Clinical Psychology of Astana Medical University, and the Department of Psychology of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.
The discussions focused on issues of particular importance to the professional community today: integrating fundamental science with practical methods, strengthening cooperation between psychologists and psychiatrists, developing professional standards, and improving the qualifications of specialists working in crisis intervention and psychological support.
One of the key speakers was Professor V.V. Kozlov, Doctor of Psychological Sciences and founder of integrative psychology. He presented the manifesto of the integrative school and outlined prospects for developing a general theory of the psyche.
Speaking about the principles of the integrative approach, Professor Kozlov emphasized the importance of selecting methods according to the individual needs and characteristics of each person. In other words, rather than fitting a client to a particular method, specialists should choose an approach that corresponds to each person's unique worldview and individual needs.
The congress provided a platform for professional dialogue and knowledge exchange between specialists in psychology and medicine. It also highlighted the professional community’s growing interest in evidence-based and ethical approaches to psychological care.
