On 21 October, Sharmanov National Medical University hosted an expanded meeting of the Educational and Methodological Association of the Republican Educational and Methodological Council for the Healthcare field of study.

Participants discussed three main topics:

• the results of admissions through the Digital Residency Platform, the challenges encountered and possible solutions;

• the implementation of the State Compulsory Standard approved by Order No. 108 of the Minister of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan, dated 15 September 2026;

• a draft unified reference guide defining how teaching staff’s education and qualifications align with the Healthcare field of study.

The discussion brought together Botagoz Bermukhambetova, Deputy Director of the National Center for Higher Education Development; Temirzhan Abdikhalyk, Head of the Higher Education Content Management Office; A. K. Izdenov, Head of the Medical Education Division at the Ministry of Healthcare; and A. R. Buranbayev, Director of Platonus Consulting.

Representatives of Sharmanov National Medical University, P. M. Pospelov Karaganda Medical University, Marat Ospanov West Kazakhstan Medical University, Semey Medical University and other universities also shared their experience and proposals.

Participants emphasized the need to update educational programmes to reflect the needs of the healthcare system, employers’ requirements and international experience. The proposals developed during the meeting will help improve the training of future medical and pharmaceutical professionals
