N. A. Safonov and O. M. Kozhamkulov, researchers at the Academician E. D. Dalenov Research Institute of Preventive Medicine of Toregeldy Sharmanov National Medical University, took part in the international conference Nutrients 2026 — Clinical Nutrition: From Research to Practice.

The conference was held in Barcelona from 22 to 24 October. It brought together researchers and specialists from different countries to discuss modern approaches to nutrition, the role of the microbiota, chronic disease prevention and healthy longevity.

At the conference, the researchers presented a study on the antioxidant potential of the diet, serum micronutrient levels in older adults and the assessment of health risk using A Body Shape Index (ABSI).

The study is part of a project to develop a model for predicting longevity. The researchers plan to incorporate dietary characteristics, physical activity levels and serum α-Klotho protein levels into the model.

The conference gave the researchers an opportunity to present the results of a Kazakhstani study to the international scientific community, exchange experience with colleagues from abroad and discuss opportunities for future collaboration.
