On February 5, 2021, the Center for Youth and Sports Affairs of the NAO "Astana Medical University" held the University Cup, an online chess tournament among students of universities in Nur-Sultan, dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the birth of Zhambyl Zhabayev.

The tournament was held on the platform

A total of 7 teams (three people in each team) met to identify the strongest in this field.

The competition was held in 8 rounds, according to the Swiss system. Each game was given 10 minutes. The winner was determined by the highest number of points.

The leader of the chess competition was the national team of our university, which included:

Okpebaev Akhmet G-155.

Liang Anna STOM-611.

The second place was taken by the team of Astana IT University, consisting of:

Umbetov Kazybek, 1st year, BDA-2007,

Amangeldiev Abylai 2nd year BDA-1903,

Adelia Manakaeva, 1st year of BDA-2005.

The third place – Kazakh Agrotechnical University named after S. Seifulinna. The team included:

Sabitov Temirlan, 2nd year, ATT 19-33,

Sagyntai Alikhan 2nd course TTT19-12,

Sagyntaeva Arai 2nd year VetSan 19-08.
