Every year at the Department of Microbiology and Virology named after Sh. Sarbasova World AIDS Day is celebrated under various mottos that reflect current pressing problems.

November 24, 2021 in honor of "December 1 - the Day of Fight Against AIDS" of the NJSC "Astana Medical University" within the framework of the decade, organized by the Department of Microbiology and Virology named after Sh.I. Sarbasova and the AIDS Center in Nur-Sultan, a discussion was held on the topic “AIDS and society” - the social problems of HIV-infected people and ways to solve them.

In addition, the AIDS Center in Nur-Sultan conducted anonymous rapid diagnostics of HIV infection among students and volunteers (23 people).

Representatives of the Nur-Sultan AIDS Center took an active part in the event. They:

• Sergalieva Aliya Shurtanbaevna - Head of the Treatment and Prevention Department of the AIDS Center;
• Zhanna Aitmaganbetovna - head of the organizational and methodological department;
• Zhakizhanova Madina Elemesovna - doctor-laboratory assistant of the diagnostic laboratory.

Among them was the dean of the medical faculty of the Medical University of Astana, doctor of medical sciences, professor Makhambetov Kaergeldy Ombaevich. The event was also attended by representatives of "No. 84 of the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan School-Lyceum" of the Nur-Sultan City Akimat. An important role in organizing the debate was played by Yermakhan Zhanerke Temirbolatovna, chairman of the intellectual debate club "Esculap", a master's student in the specialty "Public health" at the NJSC "Astana Medical University".

The discussion was held in value and political formats. At the first stage, which was held in a value format, the topic was "The DP (this ward) considers it justified to publicly disclose information about HIV-infected patients." In the final, the parties presented their case studies in a political format on the topic “AP offers the most effective mechanism for preventing the spread of HIV infection among the population”.

Also Zharylgasynov Temirlan, Mukhsenov Nazir and other students were awarded incentive prizes on behalf of the AIDS Center.

At the initiative of the head of the department, Professor Dusmagambetov Marat Uteuovich, letters of thanks were awarded to the dean of the medical faculty, doctor of medical sciences, professor Kaergeldy Ombaevich Makhambetov, head of the treatment and prophylactic department of the AIDS Center Sergalieva Aliya Shurtanbaevna, head of the organizational and methodological department, Zhanbetovna laboratory assistant of the diagnostic laboratory Zhakizhanova Madina Yelemesovna, teacher of biology of the highest category of school-lyceum No. 84 Suleimenova Zuara Baigaraevna, chairman of the intellectual debate club "Eskulap" Ermakhan Zhanerka Temirbolatovna.

And also the Director of the Nur-Sultan AIDS Center for active participation in the global campaign against AIDS and contribution to the prevention of HIV infection presented a letter of gratitude to the Department of Microbiology and Virology named after Sh. I. Sarbasova, who organized this event, headed by the head of the department, Professor Dusmagambetov Marat Uteuovich.

During the discussion, the social problems of HIV-infected people and ways of solving them were discussed in detail, various mechanisms were proposed to prevent this infection. Considering that the epidemiological situation of HIV infection is getting more complicated from year to year, such measures aimed at preventing risk are of great importance.
