From 13 to 15 December this year, in the city of Nur-Sultan, under the organization of the Astana Medical University together with the Association of Otorhinolaryngologists of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Multidisciplinary City Hospital No. 1, the International Congress of the world’s leading otorhinolaryngologists is being held, which also includes a master class on the topic “Modern surgery of ENT pathology and head and neck areas”. The event is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the 80th anniversary of the Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Honorary Professor of Astana Medical University and Honorary President of the Eurasian Assembly of Otorhinolaryngologists Rais Tulebayev.

“The world achievements of otorhinolaryngology in recent years require intensive integration, close communication with the leaders of this field of the Eurasian space and the CIS countries. We hope that the presented modern and new successes in otorhinolaryngology, as well as practical skills during the period of study and participation in master classes, will be useful for all participants of this International Congress”, - A. Tsoi noted, and on behalf of the Government of the country he wished Academician Tulebayev further success in his many years and many-sided activities.

On behalf of the AMU staff, the first head of the university, Kamalzhan Nadyrov also congratulated Dr. Tulebayev on his anniversary and emphasized his role in the development of healthcare and the training of highly qualified medical personnel, especially after Kazakhstan gained independence, when the young state was faced with the task of developing its own healthcare policy.

In addition, for cooperation with Astana Medical University in the field of otorhinolaryngology training and contribution to the development of this field of medicine in Kazakhstan, the rector awarded the title of “Honorary Professor” to Dr. Kazimir Nemchik from the University of Warsaw, Poland:

“Within the framework of international cooperation between the Astana Medical University and the University of Warsaw, for more than 12 years, specialists from the Chair of ENT diseases of the two universities have carried out more than 50 operations at clinical sites, and introduced more than 10 types of new methods of surgical treatment. Without a doubt, the staff of the Chair of ENT Diseases of the Warsaw Medical University made a huge contribution to the development of otorhinolaryngology in Kazakhstan”, - said K. Nadyrov.

The heads of national and republican medical clinics, representatives of other medical universities of the country, heads of the chairs of the AMU (Rector of the Kazakh-Russian Medical University Nurlan Dzhaynakbayev, Head of the National Center for Neurosurgery Serik Akshulakov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Center for Neurosurgery Mazhit Shaidarov, Chairman Of the Board of Directors of the West Kazakhstan Medical University named after M. Thus, the three-day program of the Congress includes the presentation of reports in such areas as:

• recent achievements in the field of surgery of benign formation of the temporal bone pyramid;
• development strategy of modern surgery of pathology of ENT organs and head and neck regions;
• topical issues and application of innovative technologies in otorhinolaryngology.
