Interdisciplinary conference of young scientists “Infectious diseases in the pandemic period”

On February 18, 2021, an online format, as part of the traditional annual work of the scientific club “No. 1 Club of young scientists and infectiologists”, an interdisciplinary conference of young scientists “Infectious diseases during a pandemic” was held in Nur-Sultan.

Vice-Rector for Research Vitaly Koykov, Director of the Department for Research Activities Gulnara Tuleshova and Head of the Chair of Children’s Infectious Diseases Dinagul Bayesheva delivered a welcoming speech from NJSC AMU.

At the Plenary session, reports were made by doctoral student Mynzhanova A. and residents of the 1st year of study in obstetrics and gynecology Tazhibayeva K.D., Saylaubekov A. on current topics of COVID-19.

Within the framework of the conference, 2 sections worked in two areas: COVID-19 and other topical infections and COVID-19, pregnancy and vaccination. As a result, more than 30 reports were delivered and more than 100 participants of the conference were registered.

The moderators of the sections were the assistants of the Chair of Children’s Infectious Diseases of the AMU: Rudenko V.V., Altynbekova A.V., Yesimkhanova G.O., Khamitova M.O. The members of the jury are teaching staff from various medical universities of the republic.

The nominees in two sections were:

Diploma of the 1st degree:

• The role of angiotensin-converting enzyme type 2 (AFP 2) and angiotensin 1-7 in the pathogenesis of SARS-COVID-2 viral infection in pregnant women. Resident of the 1st year of study of NJSC “AMU” Kayyp Bektas;

• Clinical aspects of the course of scarlet fever in children during the COVID-19 pandemic. Residents of the 2nd year of study of South Kazakhstan Medical Academy: Kurmankozha Balnur, Kaldybaeva Zhadra, Torebaeva Zhadra;

Diploma of the 2nd degree:

• Vaccine prevention of COVID -19. Resident of the 2nd year of study of NJSC "AMU": Zhanbosynova Kaldygul;

• Cytolytic syndrome in COVID-19. Residents of the 1st year of study of NJSC "MUA": Boranbay Dildar, Yesmagulova Perizat, Zhankabyl Guldana;

Diploma of the 3rd degree:

• Coronavirus infection COVID-19 and preterm birth. The urgency of the problem. Resident of the 1st year of study at NJSC "AMU": Bektursynova Indira.

• The level of students’ awareness of COVID-19 prevention measures. Interns of the 6th year of NJSC “AMU”: Zhdan Sungatali, Turlanova Almara, Aizharikova Mira.

This conference helped to attract and increase the research potential of residents and young scientists not only of our university, but also residents of Semey Medical University, South Kazakhstan Medical Academy. Strengthening the interuniversity exchange of educational and practical experience, which is one of the steps to improve and develop a competency-based approach in teaching residents.
