Rector of the AMU Kamalzhan Nadyrov: The university must keep pace with the times

Our university is strong, first of all, with good traditions and the fact that many generations of outstanding medical scientists have formed their schools here in many areas. Today, at the university, many heads of chairs are chairmen of professional communities, they are the main freelance specialists of the Ministry of Health in various areas. Established in 1964 as a medical institute with only 15 teachers and 300 students, our university has come a long way of development, becoming one of the leading medical universities in our country, whose programs are in demand not only among Kazakhstanis, but also in the near and far abroad.
Today, more than 1,600 leading teachers and scientists of our country work at the university. The university implements 56 educational programs of higher and postgraduate education, which enroll about 9,600 students, including 1,241 foreign students. Last year alone, more than 1,700 students entered our university, and more than 1,400 specialists graduated. It is important to note here that our university, in the face of growing demand for our services, does not pursue the number of students, but strives to work for quality, selecting the best applicants and creating all the necessary conditions for the formation of all the necessary knowledge and skills in students. Being a part of this university, touching the richest history, working together with professionals in their field is very valuable. Astana Medical University has earned a glorious name in the past, and this bar must not only be maintained, but also raised to a qualitatively new level. It's not easy, but very interesting. I will say this: a lot has been done, but there is still more to come. There is a clear vision and understanding of the further development trajectory of the university.
