A little bit about the cycle. From June 6 to June 10, within the framework of the Summer School – 2022, on the basis of the "Multidisciplinary City Children's Hospital No. 2", training was held in the first school of this year, in pediatric diabetology. The training content was developed and prepared by Gulmira Abduakhasova, an assistant of the Department of Pediatric Diseases with a course in Allergology, Hematology and Endocrinology at the Astana Medical University.
During the summer school, the students received theoretical knowledge on the clinical symptoms of insulin deficiency in the body, conducted an examination and examination of real patients in the department of complex somatics, learned practical skills to determine blood glucose levels, studied the device of an insulin pump and the principle of operation of different types of monitoring. The listeners also tried to live in the role of a person with diabetes: they calculated the number of bread units in meals, measured the glucose level with a glucose meter, injected saline solution with a pump.
During the training, emphasis was placed on the use of highly realistic dummy computer technologies, appropriate technical tools, video classes-applications prepared by the staff of the department, realistic clinical scenarios taken from the practice of a doctor, as well as working with real patients, which made the learning process more interesting, exciting and effective.
Every day of classes was interesting and fruitful, and at the end of the training everyone came to the conclusion that life with diabetes is everyday work, people with diabetes need knowledge and practical skills, as well as support and understanding of others to achieve excellent results.

From an interview with the listener of the cycle Kabiden Kulyan: "These 5 days flew by very quickly, but despite this, I learned quite a lot related to the violation of carbohydrate metabolism in children. While conducting an examination and examination of real patients, I realized that working with children is not easy, the cooperative work of the doctor, the patient and his parents is important here. I would like to thank the organizers of the summer school, which is an educational brand of our university, and express special gratitude to the curator of this course - Gulmira Kasenovna, it was not without her help that I learned about the etiology, clinic, treatment of diabetes mellitus, got acquainted with various devices for injecting insulin, programs for monitoring blood glucose levels, used insulin therapy on myself the pump. It was very valuable for me that a doctor like Gulmira Kasenovna and a patient learn to live together with diabetes! For the first time I visited the hospital not as a patient, this is a huge experience for me as a student. My expectations were met, so the motivation to study is only growing, thank you for the opportunity!"
