The process of admission to the shortened residency

Applications for abbreviated residency training programs are accepted by the admissions committee throughout the calendar year based on an individual study plan and on a tuition-paying basis only.

Applicants seeking recognition of previously acquired formal education outcomes and the development of an individual study plan shall submit the following documents to the admissions committee:

  1. Application for recognition of formal education outcomes;
  2. Certificate of completion of a residency program;
  3. Transcript covering the period of residency training.

The admissions committee forwards the submitted documents to the residency school for the development of an individual study plan. Upon approval of the individual study plan by the examination committee, an interview is conducted with the applicant during the period from August 1 to August 7 and/or from December 1 to December 8 of the calendar year.

Based on the approved individual study plan and the results of the interview, the admissions committee makes a decision regarding the applicant’s enrollment in the corresponding abbreviated residency program. To complete the enrollment process, applicants must submit the following documents to the admissions committee:

  1. Application for admission;
  2. Document confirming higher education (original when submitting in person, or a copy when applying via the information system) with the awarded qualification of “physician.” Individuals who obtained medical education abroad must provide a document confirming the recognition of their education and/or qualification as a physician;
  3. Transcript or academic record with GPA covering the entire period of study (years 1–7);
  4. Copy of the certificate of completion of internship (if available);
  5. Certificate or details of a specialist certificate in healthcare (a copy if issued by a foreign state);
  6. Test results from the Independent Examination conducted by the National Center for Independent Examination (NCIE): For those who completed internship from 2013 to 2018 — certificate of test results;For those who completed internship from 2019 onward — results of the first and second stages of the independent examination;
  1. Copy of national ID;
  2. Medical certificate in Form No. 075/u (as approved by Order No. ҚР ДСМ-175/2020), including chest X-ray results;
  3. Copy of marriage certificate (if applicable);
  4. Copy of employment record book (if applicable);
  5. Scientific publications, including those in peer-reviewed journals (if available);
  6. Certificates for awarded academic scholarships or research grants (if available);
  7. Certificates of scientific developments (if available);
  8. Certificates and/or diplomas for participation in scientific conferences and competitions (if available);
  9. Six photographs sized 3x4 cm (cut and placed in an envelope);
  10. Cardboard folder with fastener and three plastic sleeves;
  11. A4-size envelope;
  12. Receipt of document submission (acknowledgment form);
  13. Payment receipt.

Enrollment in the abbreviated residency program is formalized by an order issued by the Chairperson of the Board–Rector or an authorized representative, based on the documents submitted by the applicant.

Enrollment in the abbreviated residency program is carried out during the following periods:

  1. From August 15 to August 28 of the calendar year;
  2. From December 26 to January 10 of the calendar year.
