"Medical Youth" of Kazakhstan
The active organization of the NAO "Astana Medical University", among the student government organizations of the NGO "Medical Youth", began its work in 2019. Branches have been established in colleges and universities of the medical field in the Republic.
A team of about 250 medical volunteers has been formed at the branch of the NAO “Astana Medical University” in Astana.
The head of the Astana city branch is a 4th year student of the Faculty of General Medicine, Uzakalieva Nazerke Muragerovna.
The Republican public Association "Medical Youth" was established in order to unite students of medical and pharmaceutical educational institutions of the country and young workers and specialists of the healthcare system, as well as protect their rights and legitimate interests, promote effective professional activity of doctors, and form a high civil status.In addition, improving the quality of training for young medical professionals.
Progress:
During the emergency situation in the city of Arys, 110 volunteer doctors provided first aid in crowded areas.
When the state of emergency was declared due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our volunteers worked with doctors in temporary hospitals.
In 2020, medical volunteer schools were opened in 14 regions of Kazakhstan, and about 2,000 volunteers were trained throughout the country
About 2,000 medical volunteers are engaged in the development of medical volunteering and improving the medical literacy of the population in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Since the opening of the organization:
- Medical volunteers have provided assistance to about 16,000 people
- 355 socially significant events have been organized.
In 2021-2022, with the support of the Ministry of Information and the Public and the Center for Support of Civil Initiatives, more than 2,000 volunteers worked in 17 regional front offices during the implementation of the national project "Birgemiz:Saýlyq" on attracting volunteers to the healthcare sector, providing assistance in patient care, including in hospices, cancer dispensaries, etc.
Within the framework of the "School of Medical Volunteers", 17 seminars, trainings, master classes, meetings were held.
Volunteers provided assistance to about 1,000 patients of oncological dispensaries, hospices and medical organizations.
7,000 patients received social and legal assistance.
9 actions have been organized to prevent socially significant diseases
Through small grants, volunteer initiative groups and non-governmental organizations have implemented their medical volunteering projects. In total, 30 grants were allocated for 300,000 tenge to volunteers in all regions of the country.
12 non-governmental organizations and 18 volunteer initiative groups that implemented small grants covered a total of about 1,000 volunteers and provided social, medical, and legal assistance to more than 3,000 people. Of these, 9 projects have been implemented in rural areas.
About 100 volunteers provided medical assistance to 45 patients of the private hospice "Amara" in Astana on an ongoing basis: the provision of medicines, assistance to individual hygiene procedures, psychological counseling and social assistance: diapers, tonometers, bed linen were donated, great assistance was provided in cleaning the premises, timely change of bed linen.
