HISTORY OF CREATION
The Department of Physical Culture and Sports begins its history with the Scientific Research Institute of Preventive Medicine named after Academician Dalenov Erbolat Derbisalievich.
In 1999, the Department of Valeology was first organized in Kazakhstan on the basis of the Akmola State Medical Academy. This became possible thanks to the opening of the National Center for the Formation of a Healthy Lifestyle (NC PF Healthy Lifestyle) and the implementation of state initiatives - the Government Program "Healthy Lifestyle" and the State Program "People's Health."

Dalenov Yerbolat Derbisalievich
In 2001, after combining the Department of Valeology with the course of immunology and physical education at the initiative of Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor E.D. Dalenov, the Department of Preventive Medicine was organized. Since 2004, by the decision of the Academic Council of the Kazakh State Medical Academy in connection with the opening of food hygiene and medical nutrition courses at the department, the department was renamed the department of preventive medicine and nutrition with a course of physical education. Since 2008, after the unification of the Department of Preventive Medicine and the rehabilitation course by the decision of the Academic Council of Astana Medical University JSC, the department was renamed the Department of Nutritionology with Clinical Dietetics. In 2011, it was decided to change the name of the department to the Department of Nutrition and Preventive Medicine. In 2014, in connection with the organization of a sports medicine course, by the decision of the Academic Council of Astana Medical University JSC, the department was renamed the Department of Preventive Medicine and Nutrition with a sports medicine course. In 2016, the department includes the following theoretical courses: physical education, valelogy, nutritional hygiene, preventive medicine for FDMO and clinical courses: therapeutic nutrition and nutrition, exercise therapy and medical control, physiotherapy, traditional medicine and acupuncture, medical rehabilitation, sports medicine, health assessment.
In 2025, the Department of Physical Culture and Sports was created in the NAO "Medical University of Astana." Currently, the department includes candidates of medical and pedagogical sciences, master of pedagogical sciences, master of sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, candidates for master of sports of the USSR, candidates for master of sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Organization and conduct of sports and mass work at the university
Organization and participation of students and teaching staff in city, republican and international sports events
Organization of educational work to increase the importance of physical culture and sports and promote a healthy lifestyle among student youth

In 2025, NAO "Astana Medical University" became the winner in the annual sports contest among medical workers of Astana in 10 sports. Employees of the Research Institute of Preventive Medicine. Academician E.D. Dalenov and the physical education course made a huge contribution to the overall victory.
