History of creation
The founder of the Department of Human Anatomy at the Tselinograd State Medical Institute in 1964 was A.R. Rakhyshev, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, author of textbooks on Human Anatomy in the Kazakh language and anatomical dictionaries.
From 1965 to 1974, the department was headed by Professor Yu.A. Sopilnik. The topic of the department's scientific work was the study of the body under overload conditions. Scientific work was carried out by order of the Space Research Center.
From 1974 to 1984, the department was headed by Docent T.A. Berezovaya, a participant and veteran of the Patriotic War, holder of military orders, and military doctor. The department's museum was actively replenished; during these years, the following docents worked at the department: Evloev S.I., Shcherbak N.P., Solovieva N.V. and others.
Since 1984, the Department of Human Anatomy has been merged with the Department of Topographic Anatomy with Operative Surgery. In 1984–1991, the Department was headed by Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences I.S. Ermolova.
From 1991 to 2019, the department was headed by Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences A.B. Aubakirov. Under the supervision of Professor A.B. Aubakirov, the following defended their candidate dissertations: Kudasov T.R., Maul Ya.Ya., Rakhimova L.Zh., Idrisov A.S., Suleimenova F.M., Alibekov S.R., Khamidulin B.S., Zhanalieva M.K., Serikpayev Zh.Zh., also under the supervision of A.B. Aubakirov, the doctoral dissertation of Almabaeva A.Y. was defended. For the first time in Kazakhstan, the staff of the department under the leadership of Professor A.B. Aubakirov introduced the method of polymer embalming for the production of natural, high-quality, non-toxic and durable preparations - plastinates. The educational process of not only the "Astana Medical University", but also other medical universities and colleges of Kazakhstan is equipped with plastinates.
Since 2019, the department has been headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Almabaeva Aigul Ydyrysovna. In 2022, the department was named after Ashim Bulatovich Aubakirov.
The department staff have been repeatedly awarded the titles of the best lecturer and teacher of the University (Maul Ya. Ya. was awarded twice, Aubakirov A. B., Adaibaev T. A., Suleimenova F. M.), and were also holders of the grant of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Best Teacher" (Aubakirov A. B., Suleimenova F. M., Dosmambetova K. K.). In the work of the department to ensure the research and pedagogical process, all the advanced innovative achievements are used. Students have the opportunity to study anatomy both on natural wet and plastinated preparations, and using the 3D touch interactive anatomical table-display Anatomage.
The department provides training in three languages: Kazakh, Russian and English.
Employees of the department carry out a lot of work on the publication of educational literature. Professor Aubakirov A.B. and Suleimenova F.M. published the atlas "Human anatomy" in 4 volumes in the Kazakh language, 2014. Aubakirov A.B. and Suleimenova F.M. are authorized translators of the illustrated textbook "Human Anatomy" edited by Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Kolesnikov L.L. published in 3 volumes in the Kazakh language in 2016. Textbooks for 3rd year students on the subject of Anatomy-2 were published: “Endocrine system”, “Respiratory system”, “Preparation of blood vessels and nerves”, “Cardiovascular system”, “Urinary system” in 2016, authors – T.A. Adaybayev, A.B. Aubakirov, F.M. Suleymenova. The pocket atlas “Адам анатомиясы” was published in 2012, authors Aubakirov A.B. and Zhanalieva M.K.. Almabaeva A.Y. is a co-author of the textbook “Бас және мойынның клиникалық анатомиясы”, 2014. Dosmambetova K.K. published the textbook “Клиническая анатомия и оперативная хирургия” in 2 volumes in 2016, Kuzenbaeva A.O. released “Адам анатомиясы” and “Адам анатомиясының атласы”, a textbook and atlas for students of medical colleges in the Kazakh language in 2016. Aubakirov A.B. and Zhanalieva M.K. are co-authors of Latin textbooks in Russian and Kazakh. Zhanalieva M.K. is the author of the textbooks “Тістердің функциялық анатомиясы”, “Ішкі ағзалардың қанмен қамтамасыз етілуі”. Adaybaev T.A., Almabaeva A.Y., Zhanalieva M.K. published the textbook " Тірек-қимыл жүйесі". Nurmysheva N.K. is a co-author of the monographs "Physiological system of rejuvenation", "Physiological system of facial rejuvenation and prevention of aging "Beauty face" in Russian and Kazakh languages, the textbook "Surgery" for colleges.
Teaching at the Department of Anatomy is carried out using innovative pedagogical approaches. The department's teachers participate in compiling cases for PBL classes; there are PBL, TPCBL, RBL, TBL Implementation Acts.
The direction of scientific research of the department is lymphoid formations of various organs, anthropometry.
The results of scientific works have been published in the near and far abroad. The staff of the department presented scientific reports at international conferences in London, Moscow, Beijing, Istanbul, Baku, Boston (USA), Tyumen, Gwangju and others. The Department of Human Anatomy named after A.B. Aubakirov actively cooperates with the Department of Anatomy of Tel Aviv University, Ariel University (Israel), Istanbul Medipol University, universities of Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan on scientific and educational issues.
The Department of Human Anatomy named after A.B. Aubakirov has a permanent student scientific society, which is attended by students of 1-3 years. Students constantly win prizes in international Olympiads and scientific conferences of our university and abroad.
Activities
Educational and methodical work:
In the work of the department to ensure the research and pedagogical process, all advanced innovative achievements are used. On the basis of the department, the Morphological Center for the manufacture of anatomical preparations by the method of polymer embalming, or the so-called. plastination, there are no analogues of such drugs in Central Asia. The educational process not only of the Astana Medical University, but also of other medical universities and colleges of Kazakhstan is equipped with plastinates.
Students have the opportunity to study anatomy both on natural preparations and using the latest achievement of world computer technologies 3D touch interactive anatomical table-display Anatomage, which expands the visualization possibilities in the study of anatomy due to high-precision reproduction of the structure of the human body at different levels and in all projections, in real proportions of the organism.
Training at the department is carried out in three languages: Kazakh, Russian and English. Professor Dosmambetova K.K. organizer of teaching students of human anatomy in English.
The staff of the department is doing a lot of work on the publication of educational literature in the state and Russian languages.
Education at the Department of Anatomy is carried out using innovative pedagogical approaches. Most of the teachers of the department have been trained by tutors using the PBL methodology and the department conducts PBL classes with students of academic groups, as well as PBL elements are used in practical classes, which helps to increase the motivation of students and their independence in the study of medicine. Having extensive scientific and pedagogical experience, the teachers of the department are the developers of standard curricula, work programs and guidelines for the subject Anatomy 1, Anatomy 2, Clinical anatomy of the head and neck, etc.

The direction of scientific research of the department is lymphoid formations of various organs. At the department under the leadership of Professor A.B. The Department of Human Anatomy with OPH actively cooperates with the Department of Anatomy of Tel Aviv University (Israel), universities of Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan on scientific and educational issues.
At the Department of Human Anatomy with OPH, a scientific and educational morphological laboratory is constantly operating.
On the basis of the course of topographic anatomy, a group of 2-4 year students was organized to work in the SNK.

At the Department of Human Anatomy with OPH, active educational work with students of curatorial groups is constantly being conducted, students organize events: "Student's Day", "New Year", "March 8", "Nauryz", "Victory Day", etc.
Achievements
For the first time in Kazakhstan, the staff of the department under the leadership of Professor Aubakirov A.B. a method of polymer embalming has been developed and implemented for the preparation of natural, high-quality, non-toxic and durable preparations-plate. At present, the morphological association KAZMEDUCHPOSOBIE has been created at JSC “MUA”, which provides medical universities of Kazakhstan with anatomical preparations-plate. The plans of this association are outlined in the article in the newspaper "VREEMYA" No. 213, March 2007. The experience of making preparations by the method of polymer embalming was reported at scientific conferences in Kazakhstan and abroad.
