Objectives

• Organization and conducting educational, methodical and educational work in accordance with the curricula.

• Training of scientific and pedagogical personnel in the framework of master's degree, residency and doctoral programs, as well as improving their skills through training seminars.

• Preparation and conducting researches, as well as the implementation of the results obtained in the main scientific areas of the department, both independently and within the framework of scientific projects.

• Development and implementation of innovative technologies in the educational process, development of external relations with employers, education and health authorities.

History

In connection with the opening of the Tselinograd State Medical Institute in 1964, the Chair of Normal Physiology was established. The first head of the Chair was Professor A. I. Zakharova.

In subsequent years, the Chair was headed by E. V. Gurova, N. F. Shin, L. Tel L.Z. A. A. Abilkasimov, each of whom made a significant contribution to improving the educational and scientific potential of the Chair.

Thus, N. F. Shin created a scientific laboratory for conducting scientific research on animals at the department. The Chair performed classical physiological operations on small and large laboratory animals.

Years of leadership of the Chair as a professor Tel L.Z. The results of Tel's research were characterized by significant increase in publication activity and the participation of a large number of students in research work. During this time, scientists of the Chair received more than 5 patents for inventions and more than 20 certificates for rationalization proposals. For the first time at the University, a computer class was created at the Chair to test students ' knowledge. In order to promote a healthy lifestyle, the "Student Health Passport" was developed by the Academy of Sciences and many non-invasive experiments were conducted on humans. More than 15 PhD theses were defended and more than 300 scientific articles were published within the framework of the general institute topic "Extreme and terminal states".

Professor Abilkasimov A. A. and his students worked on the problem of combined influence of stress factors on the body, such as noise, vibration, hypothermia, immobilization, etc. More than 10 scientists defended their PhD and doctoral theses on this topic.

Scientific school of the department, founded by scientists L. Z .. Tel and A. A. Abilkasimov successfully continues its further development.

Head of the Chair Khamchiyev K..M.., together with a large team of scientists and teachers, he continues the work of his teachers, combining issues related to extreme conditions and the impact of combined stress on the body into one scientific topic. Constant striving to improve the educational, scientific and educational process in order to train competitive specialists allowed the Chair to take a leading position in the University.

Responding to the new challenges of the time, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chair has successfully adapted the educational process to the online learning format. Also, the department's staff was widely involved in educational work among students and the population of the country, speaking on the republican TV and radio channels, their own Youtube channel, and on the cathedral's Instagram-account explaining the issues of strengthening immunity, pathogenesis and prevention of infections and other diseases of civilization.

Activities

The activity of the Chair of Normal Physiology is concentrated in the following areas: educational and scientific.

Classes at the Chair are held in the following specialties: general medicine, dentistry, pediatrics, nursing, pharmacy, public health.

The Chair also trains specialists in Master's and PhD doctoral programs. Over the years of the department's existence, thousands of doctors around the world have been trained at the Chair and still remember their teachers with love and warmth. Many well-known scientists made their first steps as researchers at the Chair of Physiology.

Currently, the Chair employs 6 candidates of Sciences, 5 Masters of Medicine, degree is 65% of full-time teachers are settled down. Every year, teaching staff take advanced training courses in their specialty, innovative teaching methods, and foreign language skills (IELTS, upper-intermediate level).

Employees of the Chair actively participate in the life of the University, in all activities related to the educational and scientific process. Professors of the Chair are invited to participate in public organizations, groups, Councils and Committees.

According to the results of the 2020-2021 academic year, the Chair of Normal Physiology took the 1st place in all types of activities among departments of the "Astana Medical University".

Achievements

As part of its educational activities, the Chair strives to meet the most up-to-date trends in medical education, so teachers constantly improve and update information and didactic materials for lectures and practical classes, follow all the news of medical science, and improve their professional level. In the learning process actively used by the student on centered innovative technology: problem-based learning (PBL), skills which trained all teachers, team-based learning (TBL), subject-based learning (SBL), case-study, various forms of blended learning (blended learning) - inverted lectures "Flipped lecture", RBL, binary lecture, contests, layouts , etc. The lectures also use active teaching methods: business, role-playing games, a two-person lecture, a disputation lecture, and a press conference lecture. Every year, the Chair holds a contest " Inventors of physiology" among 1st and 2nd year students of all specialties, who present new, extraordinary physiological models made with their own hands and videos describing the essence and process of their production.

Employees of the Chair are the authors of monographs, textbooks ("Normal physiology", "General human Physiology" etc.), electronic textbooks, textbooks. The head of the department, K. M. Khamchiyev, has written methodological manuals on the education of young people, and his book "A Magical Journey into the human Body" is used to popularize medical science in schools, colleges and universities throughout Kazakhstan.

In the context of distance learning associated with the Covid-19 pandemic, the work of the Chair is organized at a high level to further educate students using online communications.

In recent years, the Chair has intensified its work on academic mobility. Head of the department, Professor Khamchiev K.M. actively participates in teaching students of foreign partner universities online. In particular, he reads a course of lectures for students of the Tajik State Medical University. Abuali ibn Sino", "Kyrgyz State Medical Academy named after. I.K. Akhunbaev".

The staff of the Chair conducted lectures and practical exercises on physiology with students of the Tajik State University in online and offline mode. Kyrgyz, Samarkand and Voronezh Universities. During the semester, students of the "MUA" lectured remotely by invited foreign teachers: Head of the Chair of Normal Physiology of the Tajik State Medical University- Professor Shukurov F.A., Head of the Chair of Normal Physiology of the Voronezh State Medical University, Candidate of Medical Sciences- Associate Professor Dorokhov E.V.

The scientific activity of the Chair includes conducting research, the focus of which has been the influence of combined stress on the physiological functions of organs and systems for many years. These studies are carried out within the framework of writing master's and doctoral theses. Under the guidance of Professor Khamchiyev K.M. defended and approved 3 dissertations for the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences in the specialty "Normal Physiology", 4 works for the degree of Master of Medicine, he supervises PhD-doctoral students. Under the guidance of Professor Ibrayeva S.S., Professor Rakhimzhanova Z.A. completed and defended master's theses in the specialties "Medicine", "Biology".

Currently, a memorandum on joint scientific work of the Chair with the Chair of Normal Physiology of the Tajik State Medical University is being concluded. As part of the scientific study "Comparative assessment of the influence of high mountains and steppe relief on body functions", it is plannedto organize an expedition of scientists from two universities to the Pamirs. Within the framework of the program of the International Community "Physiology without Borders" with the participation of "Tambov State University", "Tajik State Medical University", "Kyrgyz State Medical Academy", "Karaganda Medical University" and "Astana Medical University" the Chair holds conferences, seminars, open lectures.

In the last three years alone, the faculty of the Chair has participated with reports in more than 30 International scientific and practical conferences. More than 120 scientific and methodological developments (monographs, guidelines, manuals), articles and abstracts have been published in collections indexed in Web of Science or Scopus.  

The faculty of the Chair also does not forget that attracting students to scientific work is the right way to form a competent and thinking specialist, so every year students of the Chair of Physiology make presentations and take prizes at International scientific and practical conferences of students and young scientists held both at our university and outside the republic. The Chair staff always strives to attract the most inquisitive and responsible students to their scientific work. The Chair of Normal Physiology has a student scientific society, a physiological club "Vestalius". The number of students who are winners of international olympiads, winners of international conferences and competitions is constantly increasing. The quality of research and student presentations at scientific forums is constantly improving. Every year, the department's staff, together with students, organizes and conducts intellectual Olympiads on normal physiology. In 2018, such an Olympiad was held for the first time at the university in English among students with Kazakh, Russian and English languages of instruction.

Special attention is paid to patriotic and spiritual and moral education of the younger generation. The teaching staff of the Chair issued five teaching aids recommended by the Committee on Youth Affairs of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan for schoolchildren and students in Kazakh and Russian. These are "State symbols of Kazakhstan", "Yurt is a cultural monument of the Kazakh people", "Development of national sports and folk games"," Those who do not honor their parents do not honor their people», «Modesty is the best decoration of a girl".

The pride of the Chair are the stands: "The Stand of Extended Reality", on which, when you hover the camera, photographs come to life, reflecting different areas of work, stands dedicated to the memorable dates of our republic and our capital. In order to motivate students to study and scientific work, stands dedicated to the scientists of Kazakhstan and Russia - our teachers, scientific supervisors - have been designed. At the stand " Excellent students of physiology" there are 25 photos of our best students - "stars" of physiology. Photos are updated every semester.

The Chair actively uses Instagram, YouTube channel, Facebook and other social networks to implement educational work. The Chair participates in the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, interethnic unity and tolerance.

Students of our university, teachers and doctors of medical institutions of other regions of the republic know the blog of the Chair of Physiology on Instagram - @physiology_amu, which covers the educational, scientific and other areas of activity of the department, as well as the achievements of employees and students. The head of the faculty leads a blog "Moi and MUA" on the YouTube channel, which covers the life of the University, publishes interviews with our teachers and students.
