History of creation
In 1965, on the basis of the regional hospital, the first surgical clinical department of the Tselinograd State Medical Institute was organized - the department of general surgery. Its organization and formation are associated with associate professors, candidates of medical sciences Eliseev N.T., Mun N.V., Shabash E.G., Andrun P.K. The first head of the department was Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Vladimir Maksimovich Udod (born in 1919).
From 1991 to 2013, the department was headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor N.V. Mironyuk, excellent worker in health care of the USSR, excellent worker in health care in Kazakhstan, excellent worker in education (2001).
From 2013 to 2017, the department was headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Koblandin S.N.
Currently, the department is headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, prof. A.B. Fursov
Tasks
Elaboration of a development strategy for the department in areas and specialties of training, strengthening and development of external relations with employers and educational authorities;
Implementation of educational programs of the state educational standard of higher professional and postgraduate education in the profile of the department;
Development of an intradepartmental quality system for training specialists;
Keeping an electronic journal of progress by the staff of the department according to the pedagogical load;
Conducting a meeting of the department on the issue of discussing planned and current issues of educational, methodological, clinical, scientific work and educational work with students;
Development of curricula for the disciplines of the department;
Implementation of comprehensive educational and methodological support of the educational process according to the profile of the department of educational and industrial practices.
Objectives
Planning, organization and implementation of educational, methodological, clinical, educational work, current, intermediate and final training of students in accordance with curricula and programs;
Training of highly qualified scientific and pedagogical personnel, improving their qualifications in magistracy, doctoral studies, residency;
Planning and conducting research in fundamental and priority areas for practical health care, the implementation of the results of research work and innovative technologies.

Activities
Education of students of general surgery is a field of medicine that studies diseases and injuries of all areas and organs of the human body, develops and applies surgical methods of treatment, is one of the basic disciplines that lays the foundations for the study of surgical activity necessary for any clinician, regardless of his further specialization.
Surgery is accumulating more and more new data, traditional ideas about such basic provisions as asepsis and antiseptics, blood and blood substitute transfusion, surgical infection, wound treatment, the basics of anesthesia and resuscitation, plastic surgery, etc. are changing.
Knowledge of the main sections of general surgery is necessary for a doctor of any specialty in the scope of providing both primary and qualified medical care. Essentially a propedeutic surgical discipline, general surgery teaches the fundamentals of clinical examination and treatment of a surgical patient. University students in the process of mastering general surgery acquire the necessary knowledge and practical skills that will be required in their professional activities.
Achievements
Under the guidance of Professor S.N. Koblandin, eight candidate dissertations were defended. More than 100 scientific papers have been published, incl. one monograph "Postoperative ileus" and a textbook "Faculty of surgery of duristeri", practical guidelines for surgeons.
Koblandin S.N. excellence in health care, the best doctor in 2011 (Astana), is a Full Member of the Association of Surgeons named after N.I. Pirogov, Full Member of the Association of Endovidiosurgery of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the "Association of Surgeons" in Astana. By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on November 10, 2011, he was awarded an anniversary medal for the 20th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
He was awarded the gold medal of endovidiosurgeons of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2014).
Awarded the Gold Medal of the National Scientific Center of Surgery named after A.N. Syzganov (Almaty 2015).
The staff of the department received about 90 rational proposals and more than 60 certificates and patented inventions (innovative patents). For the entire almost 50-year period of existence of the department and under the guidance of professors of the department, over 37 candidate dissertations, 7 doctoral dissertations have been defended. The department is actively establishing international relations, both in the field of education and surgery. There is an exchange of students with the Tyumen Medical University, the pupils of the department participate in various international student Olympiads, receive prizes (Tyumen 2012, 2013, Moscow - 2014, 2015, 2016).
Under the guidance of Professor A.B. Fursov defended 2 PhD theses. More than 100 scientific papers have been published, incl. one monograph "Burns".
