The Olympiad on the discipline "Medical Microbiology" took place on November 17, 2023, at the Department of Microbiology and Virology named after Sh.I.Sarbasovа within «Astana Medical University» NJSC.
The organizers of the Olympiad were Professor Gulzhan Dankibekovna Asemova, Ph.D., and Senior Teacher Aigerim Grigory-Abatovna Sarsenova.
The jury included: Dean of the School of Pediatrics Ph.D. Karibzhanov A.A., Head of the Department of Philology, Ph.D. Zharykova D.R., Associate Professor Baiduisenova A.U., Associate Professor Urekeshev B.S., Associate Professor Azhmuratova M.A.
Supervising teachers: masters Bekniyazova G.A., Duysebekova G. P., Sarsenova A. G-A., Botbaeva M. T.
Students from the 2nd year of the School of Pediatrics, groups 201, 202, 203, 204, 207, 208, participated in the Olympiad. Six teams were formed, each consisting of 5 participants. The teams were selected by random draw.
The Olympiad consisted of three parts. In the first section of the program, 30 interactive questions on general microbiology were given, including the morphology and physiology of microorganisms, antigens and antibodies, as well as serological reactions. The second part consisted of a crossword puzzle on the topic of "Tuberculosis and Leprosy," and in the third part, each team was asked "All about me" questions about the causative agents of Salmonella and Cholera. The teams summarized the concept of the Olympiad using the "Cinquain" method, and the jury members evaluated each stage.
During the two-hour event, all participating teams demonstrated comprehensive knowledge in the field of "Medical Microbiology." As a result, the "Antibiotics" team was awarded a diploma of the 1st degree, the "Plague" teams received diplomas of the 2nd degree, the "Cirls power" and "T-killers" teams received diplomas of the 3rd degree, and the "Immunitas" and "Veritas" teams received diplomas of the 4th degree.
The Department of Microbiology and Virology named after S.I.Sarbasova expresses gratitude to all the department's teachers and 2nd-year students of the Faculty of Pediatrics who participated in the Olympiad.
