Student of "Astana Medical University" Eldar Mnazh became the winner of the International Award "Volunteer of the Year" in the nomination: "For contribution to solving the issues of animal protection".

The awarding ceremony of the International Volunteer of the Year Award was held at the National Museum. This award was established on behalf of the Head of State. The event was attended by delegates from the UN, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Saudi Arabia and other countries.

Active volunteers were awarded in 15 nominations. Eldar Mnazh, a 3rd year student of Astana Medical University and a multiple winner of international scientific projects, was among the winners.

The award is aimed at encouraging and stimulating domestic and international volunteers, as well as groups of volunteers, volunteer organizations that have made a significant contribution to the solution of social and public useful tasks, to the development and support of the volunteer movement.

This award is given in the following categories: best volunteer organization; leader of corporate volunteering; leader of Sustainable Development Goals; best social assistant; for active participation in emergency response; for active participation in searching for missing people; for active participation in helping victims of crime; for active participation in the development of health care; for active participation in promoting a healthy lifestyle; for contribution to popularization of knowledge; for contribution to preservation and protection of the environment; for contribution to strengthening peace, friendship and harmony; for contribution to preservation and development of historical and cultural heritage; for contribution to solving issues of animal protection; for contribution to solving social problems.

The winners received diplomas and commemorative statuettes. The contest was open to applicants from all over the world.
