Last weekend, the capital hosted the NU OPEN-2024 STUDENT KICKBOXING TOURNAMENT. The AMU university team, which consisted of four athletes, won medals of various denominations and distinguished themselves with skills of the highest level.

It is pleasing to note that three of the four students achieved the best results. In particular, our student Danial Kenesov was unrivalled in the 86 kg category. In a tenacious final fight, he defeated the most experienced opponent and added a gold medal to the university team's piggy bank.

"It is a very difficult competition. All our opponents are strong and experienced. Some of them have already played on the international stage. But I showed that I am not timid. I think I defended the honour of the university well," said Danial after his victory.

Another of our talented athletes, Zhiger Kalymov, won the silver medal in the full contact category. He only lost in the final of the 86kg category. Despite this, the coaching staff realised that he had all the makings of a champion. Sirojiddin Ravshanbekov also won a bronze medal in the 67kg category. It is worth noting that our winners are students from the AMU Faculties of Dentistry and Paediatrics.

Special attention is paid to the development of physical education and sports at our university. Last year, a modern fitness centre was opened at the university, and the Olympic champions of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part in its event.

Students from Almaty, Semey, Karaganda and Pavlodar also took part in the tournament. We wish our talented athletes good luck and congratulate them on their victory!
