At the Astana Medical University hosted a round table on the topic: "About the training of specialists in kinesitherapy and ergotherapy", organized by the School of Nursing and the Department of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine.
The main purpose of the round table was to discuss the problem of training and subsequent employment of specialists in kinesiotherapy and ergotherapy, though in general, the development of kinesiotherapy and ergotherapy in Kazakhstan.
The round table was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan, employers – heads of rehabilitation Centers, medical organizations in Astana, experts and specialists in the field of rehabilitation, representatives of the Department of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine, students and graduates of educational programs "Kinesiotherapy" and "Ergotherapy".
Vice-rector Aigul Zhunusova made a welcoming speech and opened the round table.
The dean of the School of Nursing, Zaure Baigozhina, and the head of the Department of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine, Natalia Slivkina, familiarized the participants with the educational program, voiced the existing problems of employment of graduates in kinesiology and ergotherapy related to the imperfection of regulatory documents.
The presentation of a healthcare expert, head of the Center for Project Management and Programs of the Medical and Social Sphere of Kazakhstan Khalkyna, PhD, rehabilitation physician, GP Bidatova Gulziya, who spoke about the basics and prerequisites for the introduction of kinesiotherapy in Kazakhstan, attracted great interest. The demand for kinesiotherapists is growing as people’s attitudes towards physical education and sports. They provide great assistance in organizing the physical development of people of different ages and help restore health after injuries. During the training, practicing an interdisciplinary approach, which allows to prepare diverse specialists who are in demand in the labor market.
In her speech, the head of the Department for coordination of the activities of the EMD of the direction of training "Healthcare",Sydykova Saule Ilyasovna, spoke about the prospects for the implementation of the professional standard "Kinesiotherapy" and "Ergotherapy", focused on the use of the professional standard for kinesiotherapists in the development and revision of educational programs, and also presented the regulations governing the activities of kinesiotherapists and ergotherapists, which should be brought into matching with each other.
Employers invited from outside took an active part in the discussion: the Chief rehabilitologist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, candidate of medical sciences, head of the rehabilitation department of the National Scientific Center for Traumatology and Orthopedics named after N.D. Batpenova» Galia Zhanasbaevna and the Сhief freelance pediatric rehabilitologist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, candidate of medical sciences .Sc., neurologist, rehabilitation specialist, head of the strategic development and marketing department of the National Center for Children's Rehabilitation NСJSC Meiram Shakenov, who also answered questions from students and graduates. Graduates and students showed great activity.
Graduates talked about the difficulties they faced in finding work places in medical organizations, and students were interested in the prospects of this profession.
The results of the discussion showed the effectiveness of such round tables in terms of the exchange of experience and information, allowing a collegial and versatile consideration of the problem of training and further employment of kinesiotherapists and ergotherapists.
The result of the meeting is to adopting of a resolution and discussion of proposals to inform the public, heads of medical organizations, rehabilitation centers, representatives of practical healthcare about the preparation of bachelors in kinesio and ergotherapy at the University, the need to increase a number of normative legal acts defining the qualification characteristics of bachelors in kinesiotherapy and ergotherapy.
