In the period from July 15-26 and August 15-28, 2024 under the professional exchange program of the SCOPE committee of the KazMSA organization, for the purpose of academic mobility, students from the foreign countries: Turkey, Romania, Croatia, Russia, Poland and Egypt, came to the Department of Microbiology and Virology named after Sh.I.Sarbasova of the «Astana Medical University» NJSC for an internship.
Acting professor of the department Gulzhan Dankibekovna Assemova and senior teacher, Master of Medicine, Madina Turlybekovna Botbaeva conducted practical classes with students in the summer semester.

As part of the internship, which took place from July 15-26 and August 15-28, a special calendar-thematic plan for the discipline "medical microbiology" was prepared for students from foreign countries.
Topics for practical classes were based on the study of the morphology and physiology of bacteria, infection and immunity; bacterial, viral respiratory, intestinal, zoonotic, anaerobic infections and sexually transmitted diseases were also discussed in detail.
At the department, students received theoretical knowledge reinforced by practical skills; studied bacteria under a microscope and improved their practical skills. Students got acquainted with the forms for submitting independent work, such as “Mind map” and reference signs that students make on their own, and learned how to make them with their own hands. We mastered the biological research method by performing an autopsy on a laboratory mouse and then determining the type of infection in the infected laboratory animal.
In addition to training at the department, a field trip to the bacteriological laboratory of the City Children's Infectious Diseases Hospital was organized. The students learned in detail about the rules of the laboratory, methods of cultivating pathogenic bacteria, and the principles of identifying microorganisms on the Vitek machine were also described in detail.
During extracurricular hours, cultural and leisure activities were organized, in particular, walks around the city of Astana, various outdoor games, and communication skills were developed.
Feedback was provided at the final lesson. The students shared their opinions and expressed deep gratitude to our university, the staff of the Department of Microbiology and Virology named after Sh. I. Sarbasova and our entire Republic for the warm welcome and practical skills acquired during the mobile internship.
