The Future of Pediatric Medicine: The Largest Pediatric Conference Held in Astana

On February 14, Astana hosted the 18th Scientific and Practical Conference "Modern Trends in Pediatrics", organized by Astana Medical University. The event brought together over 230 pediatric doctors from across the country, as well as leading specialists from Russia, Belarus, and Uzbekistan. The conference began with a moment of silence in memory of Academician Kamal Ormantaev, an outstanding scientist and the founder of pediatric surgery in Kazakhstan.

In his welcoming speech, Vitaliy Koikov, Vice-Rector of Astana Medical University, highlighted the significance of the event:

"This is the eighteenth time the conference has been held, making it a traditional platform for discussing pressing issues in children's healthcare. Undoubtedly, pediatrics plays a fundamental role in modern society, as it directly impacts the health of our children—the future of our country. You face serious challenges, but you also have access to advanced methods and tools to address them. Children's health is not just the responsibility of pediatricians but also specialists from related fields, making such a broad professional discussion platform extremely important. I wish all participants a productive exchange of experience and new knowledge."

As part of the scientific program, presentations covered key issues in pediatric health. More than 20 leading specialists, including Sagira Abdrakhmanova, Rashida Satybayeva, Dinagul Baesheva, Yevgeny Furman (Russia), Evelina Lokshina (Russia), Tatyana Ryabova (Belarus), and Altina Kamilova (Uzbekistan), shared the results of their research on topics such as bronchial asthma, pancreatic insufficiency, adenoiditis, acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI), and pediatric gastroenterological and orthopedic disorders. Special attention was given to modern diagnostic methods, prevention, treatment approaches, and the impact of micronutrient deficiencies on child development.

At the conclusion of the conference, all participants received certificates that meet the requirements of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan for certification and qualification category assignment.

Special recognition was given to young scientists and medical students from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, who presented their scientific papers on February 13, the day before the main conference. The best research works were awarded prizes.
