From February 28 to March 1, the Congress with International Participation "Gastroenterology 2025" was held in Astana. The event was attended by leading national specialists, researchers, and healthcare professionals. The congress was organized by Astana Medical University and the Society of Hepatology and Gastroenterology Specialists.
Vice-Rector of the university Vitaly Koikov, opening the event, emphasized the importance of scientific research and innovations in gastroenterology:
"Medicine is constantly evolving, and gastroenterology is no exception. New research and technologies provide us with more opportunities for diagnosing, treating, and preventing gastrointestinal diseases. This congress serves as a platform for discussing these advancements, as well as the challenges and prospects we face in the near future."
The welcoming speech was also delivered by Venera Rakhmetova, Chair of the Public Association "Society of Hepatology and Gastroenterology Specialists", Doctor of Medical Sciences, and Professor of the Department of Internal Medicine at Astana Medical University. She expressed her gratitude to the participants for their interest in the event and noted that the congress brings together a large number of doctors, scientists, and leading specialists in the fields of gastroenterology and hepatology.
Venera Sametovna emphasized that Astana Medical University is one of the leading medical universities in the country and is actively training gastroenterology residents. She also highlighted the importance of the support provided by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan in organizing the congress, stressing that continuous professional development is essential for providing high-quality medical care.
According to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, gastrointestinal diseases rank third among the leading causes of mortality in the country. In this regard, the congress became an important venue for exchanging experiences, discussing new diagnostic and treatment methods, and finding solutions to reduce the prevalence of these diseases.
The congress participants discussed key aspects of gastroenterology, including modern methods for diagnosing and treating gastrointestinal diseases, the latest technologies in gastroenterology and hepatology, innovative approaches in medical research, issues of prevention and early diagnosis of pathologies, as well as prospects for international cooperation in this field.
