On March 12, 2025, Timur Nurzhanovich Turgumbaev, Associate Professor of the Department of Traumatology and orthopedics at Astana Medical University and Candidate of medical sciences, passed away. This is an irreplaceable loss for the entire medical community, colleagues, students, and patients.
Timur Nurzhanovich dedicated his life to medicine, science, and the education of future doctors. In 2003, he graduated fr om the Akmolinsk State Medical Academy, and then completed his clinical residency and postgraduate studies at the Central Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics named after N.N. Priorov (Moscow, Russia), wh ere he defended his candidate’s dissertation in 2010. His education and practice in the best clinics in Kazakhstan, Russia, and Germany shaped him into a highly skilled specialist.
Since 2010, he worked at the Research Institute of Traumatology and orthopedics in Astana, progressing from a resident doctor to the head of the department of innovative technologies. Later, he worked at the Medical Center of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Since 2015, he taught at Astana Medical University, and since 2018, he held the position of Acting Associate Professor at the Department of Traumatology and orthopedics.
Timur Nurzhanovich made a significant contribution to the development of domestic orthopedics. He was the author of more than 20 scientific works, a patent holder for the development of the acetabular component of cementless fixation for hip joint endoprosthetics and presented reports at international conferences. His clinical work was recognized with a letter of thanks from the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Colleagues and students will remember him as a responsible, principled, and passionate professional. His energy, knowledge, and striving for improvement served as an example for many. He did not just treat – he taught, inspired, and helped.
The bright memory of Timur Nurzhanovich will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the fortune to work with him, learn from him, and be his friends.
