An educational lecture on blood donation was held at Astana Medical University. The speaker was Aigerim Sagambaeva, head of the donor staffing department at the Blood Center.

Future medical professionals were informed about the importance of blood donation in modern medicine, the requirements for donors, and how to properly prepare for blood donation.

"Blood is an irreplaceable resource that cannot be synthesized. It is divided into three components – red blood cells, plasma, and platelets – each of which plays a crucial role in the treatment of various diseases and injuries. Donation must be safe for both the patient and the donor", – noted Aigerim Sagambaeva.

During the lecture, the stages of blood donation and mandatory conditions were discussed in detail: the procedure must be voluntary and free of charge. Important medical criteria were also presented: the donor’s minimum weight should be 50 kg, and their height should be at least 150 cm. Students were reminded of the preparation rules for donation: they should get enough sleep, avoid fatty foods and alcohol, and refrain from taking antibiotics and analgesics.
