Astana Medical University hosted its first in-house Olympiad in obstetrics, gynecology, and perinatology among obstetrics and gynecology residents, featuring six teams: "Gynoforce", "Hypertension of the Brain", "Femi Vita", "Mater Vitae", "Guardians of Motherhood", and "ObGynius".
The event was opened with welcoming remarks by the university’s Vice-Rector, Vitaliy Koikov. He emphasized that such Olympiads not only help solidify theoretical knowledge but also enhance practical skills and teamwork.
- “This is a platform for you to demonstrate leadership and knowledge. Your specialty is one of the university’s priorities. As you know, matters of motherhood and childhood remain under special attention at the national level”, noted Vitaliy Koikov.
The Olympiad consisted of two stages, during which residents demonstrated practical skills in performing various obstetric procedures and gynecological surgeries on simulators, determined patient management strategies for routine and emergency care, and solved situational clinical cases in the fields of obstetrics and gynecology.
The competitions were evaluated by a panel of judges, which included faculty members from the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology №1 and №2, as well as practicing obstetrician-gynecologists who serve as mentors to the residents.
Assessment criteria for each competition were pre-established and included in the official competition guidelines.
Organized by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology №1, the Olympiad concluded with an awards ceremony recognizing the winners and runners-up. All participants received diplomas and certificates based on their performance in both theoretical and practical rounds.
Results of the Olympiad:
- 3rd Place – Team "ObGynius"
- 2nd Place – Team "Guardians of Motherhood"
- 1st Place – Team "Femi Vita", awarded with a diploma, trophy, and cash prize for demonstrating a high level of preparation.
