Every year, on the third Sunday of June, the Republic of Kazakhstan celebrates Medical Worker’s Day – a professional holiday honoring all those who have devoted their lives to the noble cause of preserving health and saving human lives. In 2025, this holiday falls on June 15.

Medical Worker’s Day was established by Presidential Decree of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 1998, however, its origins trace back to the Soviet period. In 1980, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR officially introduced the tradition of honoring medical professionals, which continues to this day. The Soviet school of medicine laid a strong foundation for the development of healthcare in Kazakhstan and left a significant scientific and professional legacy.

Today, medical workers are the pillars of resilience and compassion within the healthcare system. They are the first to confront pain and anxiety, make complex decisions, perform surgeries, care for recovery, and accompany patients on their path to healing.

Their work demands not only professional expertise but also strength of spirit, resilience, sensitivity, and a true calling.

To mark Medical Worker’s Day, the following events take place across the country:

·         Award ceremonies recognizing outstanding professionals in various categories such as “Best Doctor”, “Best Rural Doctor”, “Best Medical University Instructor” and others;

·         Scientific-practical conferences, roundtable discussions, and seminars;

·         Meetings with medical veterans, student initiatives, and cultural events.

Astana Medical University congratulates all medical professionals on their professional holiday and expresses its gratitude for their courage, high level of professionalism, and dedication.
