Astana Medical University hosted a memorable reunion of the 1980 graduates of the Tselinograd State Medical Institute (TSMI). The event brought together 45 alumni from various regions of Kazakhstan, as well as from Germany and Russia.

The two-day program was filled with meaningful and heartfelt moments. On the first day, the guests gathered in the university’s assembly hall for a formal ceremony. Special attention was given to the esteemed professors who participated in the event: V.A. Omarova, V.I. Lust, B.B. Baryshev, as well as E.A. Yamshchikova and N.I. Navrotskaya. Their presence was a true gift for the alumni – many shared fond memories of lectures, practical classes, and the personal qualities these educators instilled in their students.

According to Professor Viktor Tkachev of the Department of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine, a total of 341 students graduated in 1980, ten of whom earned diplomas with honors.

The alumni paid special tribute to Vladimir Chetverkin, a teacher in the truest sense of the word. He was known for his strictness paired with unwavering readiness to support every student. For this reason, students affectionately called him "Papa." A video was shown in his memory, followed by a moment of silence. A second video commemorated classmates who had passed away, whose memory was also honored with a moment of silence.

Following the ceremonial part, the participants visited the university's History Museum and took part in a guided tour of the city of Astana. The day concluded with a festive dinner filled with stories of student life, personal journeys, songs, and heartfelt expressions of gratitude. On the second day, the celebration continued with a walk through the park and along the Ishim River embankment.

This reunion was more than just an anniversary celebration – it was a true festival of friendship, professional devotion, and university traditions. Events like these strengthen generational ties and inspire the continued development of our alma mater.
