A Regional Seminar on “Quality and Safety in Pediatric Radiology” was held in Astana. The event took place as part of the 11th Eurasian Radiology Congress and brought together specialists from various countries.
The seminar opened with welcome remarks from Raushan Rakhimzhanova, President of the Radiological Society of Kazakhstan, and Tairkhan Dautov, Chief Freelance Specialist in Radiological Diagnostics and Interventional Radiology of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Director of the Clinical-Academic Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine of the UMC Corporate Fund.
The program covered key aspects of ensuring quality and safety in pediatric radiology – from justification and optimization of diagnostic procedures to clinical audits and workforce training. On the first day, participants presented country reviews highlighting the current state, challenges, and national approaches in pediatric imaging.
In the following days, thematic sessions were held, focusing on WHO and IAEA recommendations, clinical decision support systems, radiologic technologist education, dose management, and communication with parents. All sessions were accompanied by practical case discussions and experience sharing.
The seminar served as a significant professional platform for discussing effective solutions and developing common benchmarks in the field of safe and high-quality pediatric imaging.
