As part of the “Summer School – 2025” program, an additional educational course titled “Microbiomes in Everyday Life: From A to Z” was conducted at the Department of Microbiology and Virology named after Sh.I. Sarbasova of Astana Medical University.
The course participant was Adiya Kaliakparova, a 10th-grade student of BINOM SCHOOL Lyceum named after Kanysh Satpayev. During the program, she studied the fundamentals of medical microbiology, including the morphology and physiology of bacteria, as well as methods for determining their antibiotic susceptibility.
Under the guidance of the department’s faculty – Professor Gulzhan Asemova, senior lecturers and master's degree holders Madina Botbayeva, Aigerim Sarsenova, Elmira Akimbekova, and Gulbanu Duisekbekova – Adiya acquired practical laboratory skills. She examined bacteria under a microscope, cultured them on nutrient media, and conducted antibiotic susceptibility testing.
The course became a valuable experience for Adiya, allowing her to immerse herself in research activities and helping her make an informed choice regarding her future profession.
