JULY 6 — WORLD CARDIOLOGIST DAY

The heart is more than just an organ. It is a symbol of life.

Every year on July 6, the medical community observes World Cardiologist Day — a professional holiday honoring physicians who have dedicated their lives to preserving the most vital organ in the human body — the heart.

The heart works tirelessly throughout our entire lives, supplying blood to every cell in the body. On average, it beats around 100,000 times per day at a rate of 70 beats per minute. Scientists believe the heart muscle can function for up to 150 years if cared for properly. However, this potential lifespan is often reduced by stress, hereditary factors, environmental conditions, and lifestyle choices.

Cardiologists are the frontline specialists in the fight against cardiovascular diseases — the leading cause of death worldwide. Their work involves not only accurate diagnostics and complex surgeries, but also prevention, patient care, and a daily commitment to protecting health and saving lives.

According to the WHO:

·         Over 17 million people die from cardiovascular diseases each year.

·         Up to 80% of heart attacks and strokes could be prevented.

·         Major risk factors include smoking, unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, stress, and high blood pressure.

Take care of yourself and your loved ones:

·         Undergo regular medical check-ups.

·         Monitor your blood pressure, glucose, and cholesterol levels.

·         Lead an active lifestyle and get sufficient rest.

·         Avoid harmful habits and chronic stress.

On this day, we express our gratitude to all cardiologists for their dedication and invaluable contribution to the health of the nation. Thanks to your efforts, millions of hearts continue to beat.
