From October 6 to October 10, 2025, the NCJSC “Astana Medical University” invites Professor Kerim Mutig, a distinguished specialist in anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology, as an international professor and lecturer.
Topic of the visit: Fundamentals of Histology.
Main theme of the lectures: “Fundamentals of Histology: Modern Approaches and Scientific Research.”
Brief information about the lecturer:
- Studied medicine at Semipalatinsk State Medical Academy (1993–1999), graduated with honors.
- Completed an internship at Charité Clinic (Berlin, Germany) in 2004, received medical approbation and license.
- Defended his doctoral dissertation at Humboldt University (Charité, Berlin) in 2007 on the topic: “Role of Tamm-Horsfall Proteins (THP) in the Renal Concentrating Mechanism. Characterization of a THP-Knockout Mouse” with distinction (Summa cum Laude).
- 2007–2024: Head of a research group, Associate Professor of Anatomy and Physiology at Charité Medical University (Berlin).
- In 2014, completed habilitation on the topic: “Role of Antidiuretic Hormone in the Regulation of Renal Na-(K)-Cl Transporters”, obtained the academic degree Dr. habil and license to teach anatomy at universities.
- Since 2019: Professor at the Department of Pharmacology, First Moscow State Medical University named after I.M. Sechenov (Sechenov University).
Research interests include:
- histology and cellular mechanisms;
- renal anatomy and physiology;
- pharmacology and regulation of ion transporters;
- interdisciplinary research in medicine.
