The city of Semey in the Abai region hosted the Republican Congress “New Innovative Technologies in Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery,” dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the great Kazakh thinker Abai Kunanbayev.
The scientific forum was organized by the Department of Otorhinolaryngology of the “Astana Medical University” NJSC, the Semey Medical University, and the Kazakh National Scientific Society “Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery.”
The congress was opened by the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, and Rector of Semey Medical University, Altai Dyussupov.
Welcoming remarks were delivered by Acting Akim (Mayor) of Semey Kuanysh Abildaev, and General-Lieutenant Adil Shayakhmetov — Chairman of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2009–2010), and member of the Council of Rectors of the Satbayev National Research Technical University.
The congress gathered prominent experts fr om Kazakhstan, the CIS, and Europe — academicians, professors, heads of medical universities and research centers, representatives of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and international professional organizations.
Scientific reports were presented by Professor A.S. Lopatin and Professor A.V. Gurov (Moscow), Professor Sh.E. Amonov (Tashkent), Professor Kazemir Nemczyk (Warsaw), Professor Zh.S. Sulaimanov (Bishkek), as well as leading Kazakh scientists and practicing physicians.
Special attention was given to supporting young professionals. As part of the congress, a session of young otorhinolaryngologists was held, wh ere residents, master’s students, and doctoral candidates presented their research papers.
The session was chaired by Professors T.N. Burkutbayeva (Almaty), E.K. Ismagulova (Aktobe), and B.Z. Zhusupov (Astana). The winners were awarded first, second, and third-degree diplomas, valuable gifts, and monetary prizes.
The first-degree diploma was awarded to Z.T. Nazarova, a resident of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology and Ophthalmology of the West Kazakhstan Medical University named after M. Ospanov, for her presentation in English titled “Clinical and morphological relationship of the middle ear with the inner ear and its significance in the violation of sound perception.”
The congress was held at a high organizational level, serving as a platform for experience exchange, strengthening professional cooperation, and promoting innovative methods of diagnosis and treatment in otorhinolaryngology.
The event brought together representatives of various scientific schools in an atmosphere of friendship, mutual respect, and appreciation for Kazakhstan’s cultural heritage.
For the delegates, a cultural program was organized, including visits to the local history museum, and the Abai Kunanbayev and F.M. Dostoevsky museums — both listed in the UNESCO Register.
