Doctoral student of Astana Medical University, Nazgul Sutimbekova, won first place at the III International Forum of Young Scientists and Students, presenting a research project that received high praise from the expert jury for its relevance and scientific novelty.
From October 16 to 18, 2025, the III International Forum was held at the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy, bringing together talented researchers, young scientists, students, and educators from various regions who are devoted to science and the advancement of knowledge.
Nazgul Sutimbekova, specializing in Biology, presented her research titled «Biological properties of Acinetobacter baumannii strains isolated from children and adults in a multidisciplinary hospital» The work was highly appreciated by the expert jury for its relevance, originality, and practical significance.
The study focuses on understanding the mechanisms of resistance and the spread of hospital strains of Acinetobacter baumannii, which plays an important role in combating hospital-acquired infections.

In addition to participating in the forum, the doctoral student’s trip took place as part of the interuniversity academic mobility program. At the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy, she conducted a series of lectures and practical classes on Microbiology and Immunology for 2nd-year students majoring in Dentistry and Pharmacy.
The sessions incorporated modern teaching methods and were aimed at developing students’ critical thinking, analytical skills, and ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practice.
This experience became an important stage in the young researcher’s professional growth and a vivid example of successful collaboration between universities in Kazakhstan.
