Within the framework of the World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week on November 21, 2025, the IV Republican Scientific and Practical Conference with international participation “Antimicrobial Resistance – Challenges in Healthcare” will be held at NJSC “Astana Medical University.”

The event aims to unite scientists, physicians, laboratory specialists, and educators to discuss key aspects of the prevention and control of antimicrobial resistance – one of the major public health threats of the 21st century.

The conference will serve as a platform for intersectoral dialogue, exchange of scientific data and practical experience in the field of rational use of antimicrobial agents, clinical microbiology, epidemiology, and laboratory diagnostics.

Representatives from Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, and other countries are expected to participate.

The conference is held with the support of the World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office.

The following events are planned within the framework of the conference:

- Plenary session with participation of leading national and international experts;

- 3 sectional sessions on relevant thematic areas;

- Poster competition for students and young researchers;

- Specialized exhibition of innovative laboratory equipment and technologies.

On November 20, 2025, on the eve of the conference, the Inter-University Student Olympiad with international participation “Antimicrobial Resistance – The Global Challenge of the 21st Century” will take place. The Olympiad aims to develop professional competencies, enhance students’ research activity, and promote microbiology and antimicrobial resistance awareness among future healthcare professionals.
